TSFLIP Chapter 793

Walking alone down the street, Fengguang’s mind was completely blank.
She didn’t know what to think—or even how to think.
All she could hear, echoing endlessly in her head, was his voice saying he already has someone he loves.

A passerby suddenly bumped into her, making her stumble backward a step before she barely managed to steady herself.

The man who ran into her had a sharp, ratlike face. He seemed to be from out of town—his accent gave him away, and clearly, he didn’t recognize her.
“Watch where you’re going!” he snapped impatiently. “What, are you blind? Whose kid are you? Didn’t anyone teach you manners?”

He spat on the ground, shot the little girl a glare, and walked off.

His loud scolding finally snapped Fengguang out of her daze.
By the time she realized she’d just been yelled at, the man was already gone.
Fuming, she stomped her foot—when had she ever been treated like this before?!

But with no one to vent her anger on, she could only swallow her frustration and continue down the road toward the Xia residence.

Then, out of the corner of her eye, she caught a familiar figure—Wuqi.

He was walking unhurriedly through the crowd, looking as though he had somewhere to be. Fengguang frowned. She could’ve sworn he’d still been at the Xia estate when she left.
And judging by his face, he seemed… nervous.

“Wuqi!” she called out.

He didn’t hear her.

Without thinking twice, she followed.

They turned into a narrow alley, and Wuqi pushed open the door to a small house and slipped inside. This was Wutong Alley—the poorest part of Tong County, and also Wuqi’s home.

Fengguang stopped outside the door, hesitating.
Maybe he’d come back because he still couldn’t let go of his mother’s death.
She debated for a moment whether to knock.

Just then, a familiar, gentle voice spoke behind her.

“Fengguang.”

She froze.
When she finally turned around—her expression perfectly composed—she managed a calm smile.
“Shufeng. What are you doing here?”

“I followed you.” He didn’t bother to make excuses—just answered simply and openly.

Her eyes widened in surprise. “You followed me? But you never leave Linglong Manor.”

“I was worried about you,” he said. “So I came along.”

Her heart skipped a beat again—faster, louder, unsteady. She stared at him in a daze.
“I’m not a child. I’m not going to get lost… What’s there to worry about?”

“You left so suddenly,” Shufeng replied as he stepped closer. His clear eyes softened with a faint, almost luminous smile.

In the dim alleyway, his white robes seemed to glow faintly—untouched by the dust of the world.

Fengguang’s emotions tangled in her chest. She muttered under her breath, “You’re too kind for your own good… but then again, you’re so gentle, it makes sense you’d have a good heart.”

“You misunderstand,” he said quietly. “I’m not a good person.”

“Oh…” she murmured absentmindedly, not really paying attention.

He could tell she wasn’t taking him seriously, but he didn’t seem to mind.
Leaning down slightly, he reached out to smooth the loose strands of hair blown across her forehead. His voice was soft, calm.
“I’ll take you home.”

Fengguang was so caught up in the warmth of his tone that she didn’t even notice when he took her hand.

His skin was cool—cool enough to make her shiver. The difference in temperature between his hand and hers sent a jolt through her, like a spark of static that raced up her arm and into her chest.

And there, her heartbeat stumbled—fast and unsteady.
