“I can’t sleep…” Feng Guang said, her gaze drifting as she spoke. “So I just came out for a walk…”

Wen Xian offered a gentle reminder. “This is the B Division cafeteria. People are coming and going.”

He was worried she might lose control… and attack someone.

Feng Guang clearly understood what he was implying. Her stubborn, defiant streak immediately surfaced. “Since you already know who I am, you should also know that I’m not one of those low-level blood clans. I still have this much self-control.”

“I think you’ve misunderstood me, Student Xia.” Wen Xian smiled lightly. His eyes were gentle yet sharp, carrying a penetrating quality that seemed able to see straight through people. “I’m not concerned about your self-control. It’s just that as a student of the A Division, you’re only allowed to be out at night. That’s the rule.”

“And how is that rule any different from letting prisoners out for fresh air?” she shot back.

“Student Xia, the school regulations have been this way for centuries,” he replied calmly. “As the supervisor of the A Division, it’s my responsibility to remind you of that. That’s all.”

His tone was relaxed and even, without the slightest trace of personal emotion. He truly was just doing his duty, reminding her from an objective standpoint.

After all, maintaining campus stability was his responsibility.

“Student Xia, breakfast is here!” Zeng Xue came running over, carrying steamed buns and soy milk. When she saw Wen Xian there as well, she immediately straightened up and greeted him politely and reservedly. “Good morning, President.”

Wen Xian was the president of the student council—something Zeng Xue had heard from Chu Xiao, the vice president.

Wen Xian glanced at the food in Zeng Xue’s hands, then at Feng Guang’s subtly awkward expression. His look shifted to one of understanding mixed with confusion. “Student Xia—”

“I’m going back!” Feng Guang cut him off, snatched the breakfast from Zeng Xue’s hands, and in the blink of an eye vanished without a trace.

Zeng Xue asked in a daze, “What’s wrong with Student Xia?”

“She’s probably… embarrassed,” Wen Xian said, bringing his fist to his lips and letting out a soft cough to hide his smile.

As for Feng Guang, once she’d run out of the crowded area, she slowed to a walk. She headed toward the A Division campus, angrily biting into the bun in her hand. She felt utterly humiliated today. She could practically imagine Wen Xian’s assessment of her already—something along the lines of: Why is there such a strange vampire among the blood clans? Awake during the day, sneaking out to eat a human breakfast. What a spectacular oddball.

Halfway there, she suddenly stopped in her tracks, stunned by a bizarre sight.

Under a large tree were two people, a man and a woman. One was standing, the other sprawled on the ground. The beautiful, long-legged girl had one foot planted on the man’s hand and said coldly, “This isn’t the time for A Division students to be out. You’ve broken the rules again.”

The boy didn’t dare resist. He pleaded pitifully, “I was hungry… I just wanted to come out and find something to eat…”

“So you think that’s an excuse?”

“N-no… it’s my fault, I was wrong…” he begged. “Xiao Xiao, please let me go, okay?”

The girl narrowed her eyes. “What did you just call me?”

“Y-Your Majesty!” the weak-looking boy immediately corrected himself. “Your Majesty, please spare me. I was really hungry… I never meant to hurt anyone…”

His begging was heartfelt enough to stir anyone’s sympathy.

“Pathetic,” the long-haired girl scoffed. She then crouched down, rolled up the sleeve of her school uniform, and offered her forearm to him. “Drink.”
