“Mmm… you’re right,” he said, nodding, though it was hard to tell whether he actually believed her.
Fengguang suddenly felt a lot of pressure. She stood up. “All right, I’m full now. I’m going back to sleep. Good night, Principal.”
Before Ming An could respond, she grabbed the sun umbrella from the sofa, quickly opened the door, and hurried out.
The way she rushed off could only be described as a panicked retreat.
Ming An propped his chin on one hand and stared at the doorway for a long while, until a soft chuckle escaped his lips.
However you put it, Xia Fengguang was probably the least vampire-like vampire he had ever met.
After returning to her dorm, Fengguang thought long and hard. Today, she had managed to freeload a meal at the principal’s place, but what about the future? Her father had explained it to her before: in the high school division, the campus had two cafeterias. The B Division cafeteria was for humans, while the A Division cafeteria was for the blood clan. The former served normal meals, while the latter provided fresh blood packs.
Back then, Xia Chao had even said to Wang Ci that maybe after Fengguang lived at the school for a while, she would get rid of her bad habit of not drinking blood.
But Fengguang had no intention of fixing that “bad habit” at all. After thinking it over again and again, there seemed to be only one workable solution: sneaking into the B Division cafeteria during the daytime when it was open. That led to another problem, though. Her uniform was black, while the humans’ uniforms were white. She rubbed her chin and thought for a long time before finally thinking of someone.
On Monday morning, the entrance to the B Division cafeteria was bustling with students, all dressed in white uniforms.
Zeng Xue had just walked out of the cafeteria when a hand suddenly reached out and dragged her behind a tree. Before she could scream, a familiar voice sounded in her ear. “Don’t scream, don’t scream. It’s me, Xia Fengguang.”
“Xia—oh, it’s you,” Zeng Xue said, turning around and blinking in confusion. “Aren’t you a student from A Division? Why are you here?”
“Don’t worry about that. I want to ask you for a favor.”
Zeng Xue was a kind-hearted girl. She hurriedly replied, “Go ahead. As long as it’s something I can help with, I definitely will.”
“Well… it’s actually pretty simple,” Fengguang whispered in her ear. “You don’t know this, but the food in the A Division cafeteria is terrible. I really can’t eat it. But I’m not allowed into the B Division cafeteria either. Could you get an extra portion for me each time and pack it to go? Don’t worry, I’ll pay you.”
Zeng Xue had thought it would be something serious, but it turned out to be just helping someone bring food. She nodded readily. “Sure. You haven’t had breakfast yet, right? I’ll go back in and get you a portion now.”
“Mm-hmm! Thank you so much!”
“It’s nothing.” Zeng Xue waved her hand and turned to head back into the cafeteria.
Fengguang couldn’t help but sigh in admiration. This female lead was practically a little angel. For the sake of this kindness, she would do her best to help Zeng Xue in the future if anything ever happened to her.
“Xia.”
Fengguang froze, then turned around to see a gentle, smiling boy. Her mind raced, trying to figure out what to say that would make him believe she had no ill intentions, being in human territory. In the end, she simply waved and said, “Hi. Good morning.”
“Good morning,” Wen Xian replied politely, then asked with a smile, “At this hour, isn’t it usually when you should be asleep, Xia?”
