An Tong’s smile was too gentle and forgiving, and the sunlight today was blindingly bright. Mu Tianze, standing in the warm spring breeze, felt a sudden chill. He let go of Feng Guang’s hand, and stepped back with a cold expression.

Now, Feng Guang’s hand ended up being held by An Tong instead. She looked at him with a cheerful smile, but before she could say anything, An Tong graciously released her hand.

With a tone like that of an elder, he said, “Tianze, your behavior just now was not very gentlemanly.”

“A gentleman only exists in contrast to a lady,” Mu Tianze shot Feng Guang a cold glance. “Cousin, do you think she qualifies as a lady?”

Feng Guang retorted sarcastically, “Even if I’m no lady, Young Master Mu’s behavior is far from gentlemanly.”

“Heh, I’ve never considered myself a gentleman, yet women still throw themselves at me.”

“Of course. Not every woman in this world values character like I do. Some superficial women only care about appearances. Give them fifty years, and they’ll regret it deeply.”

Fang Yaya silently sat down, feeling like she’d been hit by stray bullets.

Mu Tianze snorted coldly, “Xia Fengguang, do you think I can’t deal with you?”

“Oh? Are you going to get your fan girls to corner me in the restroom and pour cold water on me, or maybe have your little goons tell me not to leave after school? Mu Tianze, how childish are you? Do you think I’m afraid of you?” Feng Guang slammed the table as she stood up.

Both of them stared each other down, neither willing to back down. Sparks seemed to fly in the air, the tension ready to explode into a full-blown conflict.

Fang Yaya glanced at An Tong, who was simply watching from the sidelines. Expecting him to step in as a mediator wasn’t going to happen. Gritting her teeth, she reluctantly stood up, ready to sacrifice herself for the greater good. “Hey, Mu Tianze, I’m heading home.”

“If you’re leaving, then just go. Why are you telling me?” Mu Tianze snapped, still caught up in his anger.

Fang Yaya fumed. “Fine, I’ll leave then. Go ahead and keep bullying girls, you jerk!”

She grabbed her bag and stormed off without even saying goodbye to An Tong.

Feng Guang chimed in sarcastically, “I heard it’s been dangerous for women walking alone at night recently.”

Mu Tianze’s face darkened, and with a fierce glare, he growled, “Xia Fengguang, just you wait!”

With that, he stormed out of the An family villa.

An Tong, calmly watering a potted plant, smiled serenely. “Seems like everyone’s in a rush today.”

“Don’t worry, I’m not in a rush at all!” Feng Guang sat back down beside him, beaming. “How about we arrange the white roses with the red ones?”

He smiled, “Sure.”

Without hesitation, she picked up the white rose from the table and, instead of going to the wall where the red roses were, she cheerfully walked to the steps by the small fountain. She placed the white rose among the cluster of red ones and then seemed to admire the arrangement, staying crouched there for a while.

“What’s wrong?” An Tong asked.

Still squatting, she didn’t turn around. “There’s only one white rose, but so many red ones. It’d be nice to trim the extra roses, don’t you think?”

An Tong froze slightly.

“Why does Fang Yaya come to see you, Mr. An? Is it because your relationship with her is very close?” Her tone shifted, calling him “Mr. An,” a clear sign that something was off.

An Tong paused for a moment before replying, “She used to visit me often with Tianze. She’s a very kind-hearted girl.”

“I was thinking, maybe we really should trim those extra red roses?”

“Feng Guang…”

“Just joking. You planted these flowers yourself, Mr. An. I wouldn’t have the heart to cut them.” Backlit by the sunlight, she turned her head and smiled. Her clear eyes seemed to hold a galaxy of stars.

An Tong suddenly felt that the sunlight was too bright today.
