Mu Tianze had initially planned to come over and comfort his cousin because of his aunt’s disappearance, but when he saw Feng Guang staring dreamily at An Tong with a silly smile on her face, most of the words he had prepared slipped his mind. Instead, his issues came to the forefront.
With a displeased expression, he said, “Xia Fengguang, I need to talk to you.”
“What is it? Just say it.” She didn’t even bother to look at him directly.
When had Mu Tianze ever been ignored like this? Besides Fang Yaya, who else dared treat him so lightly? A surge of frustration welled up in him as he coldly asked, “Are you sure you want me to say it here?”
“What’s there to be unsure about?” This time, Feng Guang lazily glanced at him, “Unless it has to do with our engagement, you usually wouldn’t even bother with me.”
Mu Tianze was taken aback. He hadn’t expected Feng Guang to bring up their engagement in front of her crush. For a moment, he was at a loss for words. Instinctively, he looked toward Fang Yaya, whose face had darkened.
An Tong was mildly surprised. “Engagement?”
“Yes, your cousin is my fiancé,” Feng Guang said casually, nodding.
“Hey, Xia Fengguang!” Mu Tianze was completely baffled. Normally, girls wouldn’t bring up their fiancé in front of someone they liked. Shouldn’t they be trying to hide it?
“I can hear you. Why are you yelling?” she scolded, her mildly annoyed tone adding a touch of allure to her already stunning face.
An Tong lowered his gaze, sunlight casting a gentle glow on his eyelashes. His voice was soft, “I didn’t realize Feng Guang was Tianze’s fiancée.”
“Well, now you know.” Feng Guang giggled. “You see? I’m willing to tell you everything. I said I like you, so I won’t hide the fact that I have an engagement. I don’t like Mu Tianze, and fortunately, he doesn’t like me either. This engagement will be called off eventually. Don’t worry, An Tong, it won’t stand in the way of our love!”
An Tong: “…”
Miss Xia, aren’t you getting a little ahead of yourself? He hadn’t even expressed his feelings, and here she was talking about love already.
Fang Yaya nearly choked on her unspoken thoughts, holding back from blurting it out.
Mu Tianze’s expression shifted. “So… you only came to Cloverleaf High because it’s close to your home?”
Feng Guang nodded. “Yes.”
“And that day on the rooftop, you weren’t upset or angry?”
“Upset? No. But I was a little angry,” Feng Guang replied, stroking her chin. She was only angry because he had been the one to bring up the topic of breaking off the engagement first.
Mu Tianze gritted his teeth. “So, you deliberately acted to force my parents into agreeing to the engagement cancellation?”
“Well…” Feng Guang smiled sheepishly. “I didn’t tell you to threaten your parents by cutting ties with them. That was your idea. But I have to say, your method worked. The very next day, my dad got the news that your family wanted to cancel the engagement.”
“Xia Fengguang!” Mu Tianze slammed one hand on the table, leaning forward, while his other hand suddenly grabbed her wrist. “You dared to manipulate me?”
Feng Guang frowned. “You’re hurting me.”
Mu Tianze paused, loosening his grip instinctively.
“Mu Tianze!” Fang Yaya shouted, standing up to intervene, but someone else moved faster.
An Tong gently grasped Feng Guang’s restrained hand, flashing a warm smile. “Tianze, let her go.”
