Feng Guang felt a bit embarrassed when Shen Wuyan seemed to read her thoughts. She cleared her throat. “Who knows if you’re normal or not?”
“You’re the one who’s not normal if you think that,” Shen Wuyan replied, looking at her like she was a mentally unstable person. “The first time I saw you, I admit, you’re very easy to like, but that’s just because of your looks. Your personality, though, is a complete mess.”
“Hey! Shen Wuyan, are you here just to insult me today?!”
“Calm down. I’ve told you before, in everything, stay composed. That way, you’ll be the most graceful young lady.”
Feng Guang puffed up her cheeks and glared at him.
“Now that I think about it, I feel a little childish,” Shen Wuyan said with a more genuine smile in his eyes. “I hated you only because you were my fiancée. Now that you’re no longer my fiancée, I still hate you, but not as much.”
“Oh, should I be happy about that?”
Shen Wuyan viewed her as a chain his father had given him. Now that the engagement was called off, he didn’t feel victorious for overcoming his father but rather a sense of regret and perhaps a little uncertainty.
Feng Guang had a bad temper and a lousy personality. The only thing good about her was her face. But Shen Wuyan had to admit, that even with her faults, she was very captivating. In the past, he’d avoided her, thinking she was useless, but now he couldn’t deny that she was undeniably dazzling.
However, she no longer adored him, and he now had Zhao Xiaolu.
It wasn’t that he had suddenly fallen for Feng Guang; it was more like a strange feeling of regret. Late at night, he would find himself wondering if things would have been different if he’d discarded his misplaced anger and tried to connect with her earlier.
Regret?
No, Shen Wuyan never regretted anything. He just sighed at his past self. He always knew what he wanted, and right now, what he wanted most was Zhao Xiaolu, the silly woman. Even though he called her a “silly woman,” every time he thought of her, his heart softened unexpectedly.
Feng Guang noticed he had fallen into his thoughts. Just as she was debating whether or not to get his attention, he snapped out of his reverie.
“Xia Feng Guang, maybe we can coexist peacefully after all.”
“Ah?” She wondered if she had heard him wrong.
Shen Wuyan smiled, the expression on his face tinged with a hint of resignation. “Maybe you’re not as unbearable as I thought.”
Feng Guang felt like the Shen Wuyan she was seeing might not even be real.
It was now time to board, so she gave him a strange glance, muttered “crazy” under her breath, and dragged her suitcase away. Shen Wuyan chuckled and followed her, but just then, the crowd suddenly stirred.
People were staring at their phones, continuously expressing their surprise. Even those still at the security checkpoint stopped, all of them watching the LED display in the airport. Even the voice on the intercom announcing upcoming flights fell silent.
A cold, clear voice echoed through the airport. “Feng Guang.”
Feng Guang froze in her tracks. That voice was so familiar. She looked up, and when she saw the image on the screen, her body went completely stiff.
Ou Xun, with his usual impassive expression, stood as still as ever. In his hand, he held a knife, its blade gleaming coldly in the dim light. But his gaze was gentle as if he were looking at the most precious thing in his life, through the screen.
