For the past week, she had been watching short videos, then going back to watch the full episodes, and after watching the edited version last night, she had turned into a squealing fan, extremely excited.
Some segments that seemed thrilling in the live broadcast became iconic moments in the edited version.
Like the famous scene with the ghost doll lantern and later when Fu Qingli was scared out of her wits but ran back to check on her teammates who hadn’t followed her…
After watching, she couldn’t stop thinking, “I’m never unfollowing her again!”
An idol this interesting and lovable? Amazing!
At the stroke of midnight, the live stream officially began, and the camera, as usual, panned out to show the setting. Last time it was a vampire castle, but this time…
“Whoa! It’s a hospital!”
“Ahhh, this is incredible! The production team is out of their minds, it’s a hospital!”
As the chilling atmosphere reached its peak, the screen switched to where the guests were.
This time, the lighting was normal.
The guests, blindfolded, were standing still. Among them, Fu Qingli, who was still afraid of the dark, was being held by Meng Ke. Wei Pingnan murmured, “Don’t be scared, I’m here!”
Xiang Yifei, holding Wei Pingnan’s hand, said, “I’m not scared, you don’t be scared either.”
There was also a well-dressed girl standing nearby.
The viewers, seeing the scene, collectively relaxed and started typing with amusement: “Haha! Fu Qingli, don’t be scared! You’re the bravest!”
“Five people? Why is there one extra?”
“Who is that?”
“Ah, isn’t that Su Tang, the one who’s been showing off her relationship all over social media? The young lady from the Su family? She came?”
At this moment, the voiceover sounded: “Please remove your blindfolds and receive your mission.”
Everyone followed the instructions and removed their blindfolds.
The next second, Wei Pingnan was startled by an extra person, causing him to shudder and instinctively grab onto Xiang Yifei’s arm.
Xiang Yifei reassured him, “It’s okay, it’s okay, this is Su Tang. You’ve worked with her before.”
“Hello, I’m Su Tang. Hello to all the viewers,” said Su Tang, wearing a nurse’s outfit, flashing a bright smile as she greeted both the camera and the group.
Qingli, who also took off her blindfold, blinked and adjusted to the bright lighting of the livestream, then politely greeted everyone.
Meng Ke and the others quickly greeted her as well.
After the pleasantries, Wei Pingnan picked up an invitation letter from the table and opened it. He began reading aloud as usual: “K City has experienced a viral outbreak, and the entire city has become a dead zone. Most of the infected have been contained, but some are still roaming outside…”
Upon hearing this, Xiang Yifei quietly remarked, “Does this mean we could be attacked by infected people?”
Meng Ke’s face slightly changed. “If we’re bitten, will we become infected too?”
Qingli was about to respond when Su Tang cheerfully interjected, “It’s very likely! So we must run fast when the time comes.”
Meng Ke glanced at her and chuckled. “Right, so Qingli, your life is in your hands now!”
“No problem!” Qingli immediately nodded confidently.
“But I can’t run…” Wei Pingnan said with a worried expression, then continued reading: “The antidote recipe, however, was left behind by the staff due to oversight at Renxin Hospital. You five are the most outstanding explorers, with a 100% mission success rate, so we especially invite you to go to Renxin Hospital to retrieve the recipe and contribute to solving the virus issue. Good luck, brave explorers!”
Wei Pingnan couldn’t help but mutter after reading this, “100% success rate? But we’ve only done two missions! I feel like your standards for selecting talent are a bit low.”
“Hahaha…” Everyone laughed.
Just as they were enjoying themselves, the lights suddenly began to flicker.
The laughter abruptly stopped, and everyone became alert. Qingli immediately focused, controlling her body instinctively to avoid being startled into screaming.
Fortunately, the lights returned to normal soon after.
Meng Ke, still on high alert, found it hard to believe and remarked, “That’s it?”
Wei Pingnan instinctively felt there was more to it and urged, “Let’s get started quickly, we need to find the code.”
Su Tang walked over to the door and said, “The code is numeric. Are there any numbers around here?”
Everyone began searching. Qingli, accustomed to the flickering lights, also started looking. The first puzzle wasn’t difficult; it related to the main storyline. In the office files, they discovered that the owner of the recipe was Professor B. By calculating his birth year from the calendar on the desk, they were able to unlock it.
Once they exited, they noticed that the lights outside were also flickering, sometimes blacking out for two seconds, sometimes for ten, creating a spooky atmosphere. The hospital setting only added to the eerie vibe.
The five of them lined up as usual, with Meng Ke taking the initiative to stand behind Qingli, placing Su Tang in front of Xiang Yifei. “That way, he can protect you,” he explained.
“Alright,” Su Tang said with a smile. “But I like horror movies, so I probably won’t be scared. If any of you are, you can hide behind me.”
“Wow, that’s impressive!” the others cheered.
The audience in the live stream, entertained by the efficient puzzle-solving, responded with similar praise, though a small portion of the comments read:
“I feel like something’s off with what she said.”
“Finally, someone bold enough. I was starting to dislike Qingli, why take this show if you’re scared? Looks like she’s just in it for the money!”
“Qingli is doing great now. Anyway, everyone’s acting bold, so what’s left to watch in ‘Escape the Horror’?”
“I’m here for Qingli. She’s genuinely funny and entertaining!”
The comments kept flowing, but Zheng Yue, who was monitoring, didn’t pay much attention to this. She knew that some celebrities would always get criticism, and it was part of the deal. As long as the rhythm was being set right, she would guide it back.
Meanwhile, the five in the room continued their journey.
Although the corridor was scary, they surprisingly found the staircase without any trouble and hesitated whether to go down.
Wei Pingnan commented, “It feels strange, we just came straight here without any doors?”
Xiang Yifei agreed, “I feel the same, something doesn’t feel right.”
Su Tang frowned. She clearly remembered telling Old Xie to raise the terror level for this episode, which would highlight the contrast between her and Qingli. But this…?
Meng Ke and Qingli exchanged glances, both feeling that something was wrong.
Suddenly, Qingli said, “If we go this way, where are we headed? We don’t have any clues, how do we know where the antidote recipe is?”
Everyone stared blankly.
“True…” they murmured.
The five exchanged uncertain glances, unsure what to do. The previous two episodes had all the paths set for them, but this time…
“Minesweeping, I guess,” Meng Ke said decisively.
Su Tang quickly agreed, “Yes, let’s sweep the rooms one by one and see if we can find any clues.”
With a clear direction in mind, they returned to the starting office area, which contained eight rooms. They quickly examined each other’s room codes and then rushed to search.
However, once again, the lights began to flicker rapidly, creating an unsettling atmosphere. It even seemed like they could hear low growling noises.
Qingli’s forehead started to bead with cold sweat, her heart racing as she felt the creeping dread. She was still scared of the dark, especially with the ominous sounds coming from the darkness. As they progressed in their search, the growling noises grew louder.
“Take a break,” Meng Ke noticed her discomfort and suggested.
Qingli forced a smile and nodded, stepping back to lean against a wall.
Su Tang, though initially confident, began to feel the difference between watching horror films and experiencing it firsthand. The terror seemed to be multiplied, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that something monstrous might emerge from the darkness.
But she steadied her trembling hands, reassured herself, and casually glanced over her shoulder, trying to remain calm.
Just then, she smiled, excited, and said, “I found it!”
The others rushed over, eager to see. “Yes, this is the one we needed.”
They combined the numbers and calculated the code. Just as they were about to open the door, the growling noises grew louder, and they hesitated in front of an unknown room, afraid of what lay inside.
Su Tang, unfazed, said confidently, “I’ll do it, I’m not scared.”
Wei Pingnan smiled gratefully and stepped aside. The others stepped back as Su Tang took the lead. She took a deep breath, grasped the door handle, and gently opened it.
As the door creaked open, the pitch-black room seemed to offer relief, but the next second, a zombie-like figure lunged at them, its long, gray claws reaching out. With a deafening roar, it bellowed into the air: “Roar—!”
Su Tang, who had suspected there might be something inside, was completely unprepared for a zombie to confront them so closely. She froze, her eyes wide with terror, and let out a piercing scream: “Ahhhh!”
I watched horror movies and lot too. Some even questionable to legalities 😅 but you see girl..watching and experiencing it were 2 different world. One is a comfort of fiction and behind the scene while other is actual 🫠🫠🫠
That’s why I also scream and laugh after whenever me and my friends go to horror houses
