TFRLTOP Chapter 95 Part 2

In reality, she was biding her time, sharpening her claws, waiting for the right moment.

A gentleman seeks revenge—ten years is not too late.
Just wait till I grow up.

But in Xiao Yunmu’s eyes, it was a completely different picture.

The kid had quieted down and grown distant from him.

He somewhat regretted his impulsiveness—after he’d finally raised her into a little hellion with no regard for rules, she suddenly turned into a pitiful little thing living under someone else’s roof.

At the same time, he had to make up the schoolwork he’d fallen behind on. He at least needed to get his diploma. Since Xiao Yunmu attended college abroad, it meant he couldn’t see Mingming every day anymore. Whenever he did return, it was only to deal with urgent company matters. The number of days the two “discount siblings” could see each other only kept shrinking.

Mingming was perfectly happy with that—she didn’t miss him at all. Xiao Yunmu, on the other hand, worried about her constantly. Since he couldn’t make it up to her, he stuffed her pockets with as much allowance money as possible.

And what did that look like?

Like a rich husband who never comes home, leaving behind a little wife with nothing but time and money.

Mingming thought it was fantastic.

With the “emperor far away,” nobody could control her anyway. She lived a blissful, carefree life at school.

Every day she lounged around like a smiling Buddha, and couldn’t help sighing—no wonder all those “reborn” heroines in novels always get the easy, satisfying scripts.

Turning in an exam in the last five minutes and still getting a perfect score in every subject; accidentally making a boy cry while messing with cats and dogs, yet the teacher would still insist she “didn’t mean it.” What was there to complain about?

In the blink of an eye, she was in third grade.

Zhao Chengfei and An Kang became good friends—well, in parentheses, Zhao Chengfei’s one-sided idea of “good friends.”

Since both of them were hopeless simps whom Mingming couldn’t care less about, Zhao Chengfei felt deep sympathy for An Kang.

He believed the two of them were brothers bound by shared suffering.

But An Kang didn’t see it that way at all.

What are you compared to me? Don’t lump yourself in with me.
Just wait till I hit my growth spurt—I’m going to regain my dignity!

Unfortunately, by third grade, he still wasn’t taller than Mingming.

That same year, Mingming hooked a cute sixth-grade boy.

Sixth grade was the dividing line among boys—some shot up in height, some had their voices change. They were clearly not on the same level as the little carrot-headed boys in lower grades.

One day during the long recess, Mingming was leaning on the second-floor railing, looking down with nothing in particular on her mind. A few boys passed by below, dribbling a basketball.

A boy who stayed that fair-skinned while baking under the sun every day, playing basketball? There was only one of those in the whole school.

Mingming looked at him for a few extra seconds. Unfortunately, he looked up at the same time. Their eyes met.

The boy suddenly smiled at her, a little cocky and mischievous. He bounced the ball once, then casually tossed it upward. Mingming let her arm fall and caught it effortlessly.

He’s flirting with me.

She tossed the ball back and pointed finger-gun style at him, mouthing, Bang! You’re dead.

From that day on, the boy started sticking to her like glue.

“Hey, little girl, what class are you in?”

“My name is Song Junyi, sixth grade, Class Three. What? You’re in third grade, Class Six? Wow, we’re meant to be. A perfect match!”

“Wanna watch me play ball?”

“Where does your class stand during morning exercises? I’ve been looking for you every day.”

“Are you free this weekend? I’ll take you out and introduce you to my boys—my little girlfriend.”

He looked unruly and mischievous, but he was still very fair-skinned, with a scholarly aura mixed with a hint of wickedness.

Standing straight, Mingming’s head barely reached his chest.

His eyes really look like they’re full of me!

Her heart fluttered.

So this is puppy love?

Oh my god, he even has abs.

Just as Mingming was about to agree—reservedly, of course—to start a little early romance with him, a mature-looking girl suddenly showed up with a group of friends to confront her.

“What do you guys want?”

The girl claimed to be Song Junyi’s… childhood sweetheart.

She glared at Mingming with three parts heartbreak, four parts sorrow, and five parts fury. “Do you not understand the rules?”

Mingming: “Huh?”

The girl let out a mocking laugh. “Figures. You’re only in third grade, and I’ve been by his side through sixth grade. Do you think you can compare?”

Mingming: “Huh??”

Seeing Mingming still utterly confused, the girl said condescendingly, “Since you don’t know, as your senior, I have a duty to teach you. Don’t touch boys from higher grades. They’re the precious youth we’ve spent years on. How could a latecomer like you compete with someone who came first?”

Mingming: “Huh???”

Her expression at that moment: =_=

What the hell did I do to deserve this??

The girl and her posse surrounded her in a tight circle.

Just as school bullying was about to commence, Song Junyi descended like a hero.

“Feng Haohao, what are you doing?”

Song Junyi rushed over, pulled Mingming behind him, and said, “If you have a problem, take it up with me. Why are you picking on her?”

Feng Haohao looked at him with teary heartbreak. “I was here first! I’ve been by your side for six years. Why did you choose her the moment she appeared?”

“That’s right, that’s right—Haohao has liked you for so many years. How can you be so heartless?” her friends chimed in.

Mingming poked her head out from behind Song Junyi and added fuel to the fire: “Maybe it’s just… ‘first love loses to love at first sight.’”

All the girls glared at her.

Eep. (._.)

“Feng Haohao, stop your wishful thinking! I already have someone I love. I won’t let her be wronged. Don’t waste your youth on me. I won’t look at any girl except Xiao Xinxi.”

“You…” Feng Haohao’s eyes reddened. “You’re about to graduate from elementary school! You’ll be in middle school, she’ll still be in elementary school. How will your relationship survive time and distance?”

Song Junyi took Mingming’s hand and answered solemnly, “I’m not afraid. I’ll always stay by my girl’s side. I believe our love can overcome anything.”

Mingming clamped her lips shut, biting down hard so she wouldn’t let out a single sound.

If she were really a third-grade kid right now, she would think this scene was so cool she’d remember it for life.

But she wasn’t really a kid, so all she wanted to do was laugh. This is too much!

She covered her mouth and looked away, pretending to hold back tears.

But in Song Junyi’s eyes, that meant his little girlfriend had been bullied to the point of crying.

Unacceptable.

“Xinx i, what’s wrong? Tell me—how else did they bully you?”

Bro, please stop talking to me. I can’t hold it in anymore!

Finally, Mingming simply leaned into his chest, desperately suppressing her grin and squeezing out a few tears to sell the act.

“You all need to leave! Don’t let me see you near my girl again. If there’s a next time, I won’t go easy on you!” Song Junyi said sternly.

Feng Haohao fled in tears, her posse chasing after her.

Not meeting you at the right age will be the regret of my life…
Pffft—HAHAHAHA.

Forgive me, forgive me…

Author’s Note:

Sorry, but this really does feel like kids playing house, hahaha. Mingming looking at these little brats is exactly like how Xiao Yunmu looks at her—she just can’t feel anything! Maybe when they’re older… maybe?

I wanted to write puppy love, but it still ended up becoming a comedy orz.

Mini Theater 1:

Mingming stared at Song Junyi, drooling: “His eyes really are full of me!”

Zhao Chengfei & An Kang: “Our eyes are full of you too! Why won’t you look at us?”

Mingming glances at Zhao Chengfei with disgust: “You’re ugly.”

Then looks at An Kang: “You’re short.”

Mini Theater 2:

Xiao Yunmu sits next to Mingming, watching the replay, wanting to speak but holding back.

Mingming seems to know what he wants to say. She pats his shoulder comfortingly.

“This is nothing. The blond hothead hasn’t even shown up yet.”
