Chapter 2: The CEO’s Little Plaything
Hero Saves the Beauty? Male Lead Saves the Side Character?

“Left! Duck in there!”

Ming Ming moved like the wind, quickly veering off and hiding behind a stack of crates.

Sure enough, the men chasing her didn’t notice and ran straight past.

Her legs felt like jelly, and she finally let out a shaky breath.

But her chest was still tight with anxiety. Her whole plan for the day had been completely derailed, and now she’d hit a dead end.

At this point, it looked like she only had two options:

Become someone’s sugar baby—or get dragged off to be a sex worker.

“Goddamn it. Forcing women into prostitution is way too easy.”

No matter how loud she screamed, no one was coming. Even though she was in a bustling city, it felt like she’d been trafficked to some desolate mountain.

Ming Ming pulled out that business card and stared hard at the number, mentally preparing herself again and again.

Her heart was pounding like crazy, threatening to leap out of her throat. In her head, she tried to picture Mr. Zhang’s face, desperately trying to beautify it, to accept him as her bald sugar daddy…

Nope. Still made her want to puke.

“Here you are.” A cold voice suddenly spoke above her. Ming Ming slowly looked up to see a sinister-looking man peering over the side of the crate, grinning darkly.

“Gotcha.”

“AAAAHHHHHHHHH—!”

Her heart almost stopped.

She jumped to her feet, shoved the crate at him, and bolted.

Screw it. Mr. Zhang, it is. Bald sugar daddy, here I come.

As she ran, she fumbled with her phone, trying to punch in the number.

“Please, please, pick up!”

After three rings, the call connected.

“Hello, Miss Chu, how can I help you?”

Ming Ming didn’t even care how they knew it was her. She gasped out in one breath, “First of all, I’m deeply sorry for offending you and your husband—second, does your offer still stand? I’ll do it, I freaking will—and last, can I get an advance on the benefits? Help—save—me—!”

“You’re in trouble?”

“A group of people is chasing me! They’re trying to kidnap me!” Ming Ming was on the verge of tears. She could tell the person on the other end seemed willing to help, so she quickly added, “I’m at—I’m at…”

The next second, she slumped in despair.

“Damn it—I don’t know where I am!”

“Don’t worry, Miss Chu. We’ll be there soon. In the meantime, just keep running,” the calm, reliable voice said.

It didn’t exactly comfort her, but at least she had a sliver of hope. She pushed herself to keep running.

“Something’s off,” the system muttered inside her head.

Ming Ming immediately panicked. “What? What’s off? What do you mean?!”

“It’s nothing. Just keep running.”

It felt like an eternity passed before a black Rolls-Royce Phantom screeched to a halt in front of her.

“Jesus, I thought I was about to get hit by another car.” Ming Ming clutched her chest.

Two men stepped out of the car. One was the smiling tiger she’d met just a few hours ago. The other one looked even more intimidating than the guys who were chasing her—scar on his face, eyes cold as ice.

“Long time no see, Miss Chu,” the smiling tiger greeted her with his usual fake-friendly smile.

“Yeah, long time.” Ming Ming was practically in crisis mode. Why was this guy still so calm? “Hey—why are you both getting out of the car? Get in! Let’s go! They’re gonna catch up to us!”

Even before she finished speaking, voices rang out behind her. “There she is! Grab her!”

Ming Ming was about to cry.

“Don’t worry, Miss Chu. We’re here to handle the situation.”

“Bro, there’s like five or six of them! And only two of you!” She was starting to doubt this whole plan.

The smiling tiger raised a finger. “Not two of us—just one.”

Ming Ming: I’m screwed. Why did I even hope?

“—And honestly, it’s kind of a waste to use him on small fry like this.”

Ming Ming turned around, ready to run again.

This isn’t reliable. I’ll save myself, thanks.

The smiling tiger stopped her. “Miss Chu, have a little faith in us, will you?”

She looked like she was about to break down.

Meanwhile, the scar-faced man had already walked straight up to the group.

“Who the hell are you? Mind your own business, man, or I swear—AARGHH—!” The leader didn’t even finish his threat before Scarface twisted his arm and broke it.

Ming Ming stared, dumbfounded. Holy sh*t.

Then Scarface made quick work of the others. “You’ve got a good life and you waste it chasing death,” he said coldly before turning back.

Ming Ming looked at him in awe.

So badass!

Then she turned to run again.

Too bad the smiling tiger was faster and grabbed her before she could bolt.

“Miss Chu, there’s no need to be afraid. You’re not in any danger anymore,” the smiling man said with a grin. “Now, we can get back to the main topic.”

A chill ran down her spine.

That’s exactly what she was afraid of—him getting back to the main topic.

The system hesitantly warned her, “You… might want to brace yourself.”
