Rumors that Ming’an liked men spread quickly, yet no one had ever actually seen him with any man.

With a sigh, Ming’an said, “What if I told you I’m getting older and started thinking about marriage—that’s why I’m late. Would you believe me?”

Xia Chao and Wang Ci said nothing. Their silence made it clear they didn’t believe a word.

If someone like Ming’an had really wanted to settle down with a normal man and start a family, he could have done so centuries ago. Why would he suddenly feel the urge to get married now?

Xia Chao snorted. “You used to be a vampire hunter, and now you’re half vampire yourself. If you’re looking to get married, are you planning to marry a human or a vampire?”

“Well…” Ming’an thought about it seriously for a moment before answering, “I choose beautiful women.”

“Enough. We don’t care what kind of beauty you’re chasing,” Wang Ci said impatiently. “I’m here to see my daughter. The A Division dorm building—is it still where it used to be?”

Ming’an nodded. “Of course it is. But do you still remember the way? Want me to show you?”

“We don’t have memory problems,” Xia Chao said, shooting Ming’an a look before heading off first.

Before leaving, Wang Ci said to Ming’an, “Don’t worry. We know parents aren’t supposed to come to Osiris. After we see Fengguang, Xia Chao and I will leave right away.”

Ming’an just smiled without replying.

Meanwhile, Fengguang sat in her dorm room on high alert. She had changed into a high-neck dress to hide the marks on her neck. She arranged her clothes neatly in the closet, set her toothbrush and toothpaste carefully in the bathroom, and even messed up the bedding so it would look like she had been living there the whole time.

Soon, there was a knock at the door.

She took a deep breath, checked one last time to make sure nothing looked suspicious, then opened the door with a bright smile. “Hi, Dad. Hi, Mom. Good afternoon.”

Seeing that she was safe and unharmed, Xia Chao finally relaxed. He pulled his daughter into a hug. “I’m glad you’re okay.”

Though he was usually stern and serious with her, when it really mattered, he loved his child more than anything.

“What could have happened to me? I’m perfectly fine,” Fengguang said with a cheerful smile as she stepped aside. “Come in.”

Since they knew Fengguang usually stayed awake at night and slept during the day, her parents had specifically chosen to visit during the daytime.

Suddenly, Wang Ci said, “Xia Chao, go wait outside.”

Xia Chao’s eyebrow twitched. “What did you say?”

“I said, go wait outside.” There was no trace of a smile on Wang Ci’s face.

Fengguang sensed something was wrong. “Mom… what’s going on?”

“You want me to leave… and I’m just supposed to leave?” Xia Chao glanced at his wife’s cold expression. After a moment of silence, he sighed. “Fine. I’ll wait outside.”

Not only did he step out, but he also closed the door behind him.

The room fell into an uneasy silence.

Fengguang’s eyes darted around nervously, feeling immense pressure. Just as she was trying to think of something to say to break the silence, she heard her mother say, “Take off your clothes.”

“…What?”

Wang Ci’s tone left no room for argument. “Fengguang. Take off your clothes.”

“Wait…” Fengguang took a step back. “Even if you’re my mom, that’s a pretty shocking request to make out of nowhere.”

“Good—you remember I’m your mother,” Wang Ci replied coolly. “So why are you being so shy about taking off a few layers?”
