Ye Yu scratched his head. “Our clan leader isn’t ugly or anything. Why don’t you like him at all?”

“If you like him so much… then you marry him…” Fengguang shook her head, forcing back the urge to pass out.

“I don’t need it…” Fengguang turned away. She knew she couldn’t escape, but her pride wouldn’t allow her to wait helplessly for capture. Her steps were uneven as she staggered across the damp ground covered in dead leaves. After barely three steps, her already fractured right leg finally gave out.

Her body tilted, about to fall into the muddy ground, when an arm wrapped around her waist. She crashed into a warm chest and was held securely in the man’s embrace.

Then long, warm fingers pinched her chin, forcing her to lift her head. Her eyes, barely able to open, parted into a thin slit. Through the blurred vision, she thought she saw someone familiar.

The man was smiling, but his eyes were icy cold. “I only went one day without seeing you, and you managed to get yourself into this sorry state?”

“It hurts so much…” she murmured. The words slipped out instinctively. Maybe if she sounded pitiful enough, he wouldn’t speak to her in such a cold tone.
