“Gu Yan, how dare you call Guaren fat!”
“Your Majesty referring to yourself as guaren is rather fitting,” Gu Yan replied warmly. “The term guaren implies a person lacking in virtue—someone who falls short in moral conduct. Seeing how Your Majesty oppresses me day and night, it is indeed quite appropriate.”
Feng Guang was stunned.
“Surely, Your Majesty didn’t think…” Gu Yan feigned surprise. “It meant a lonely, isolated ruler?”
Feng Guang averted her gaze, refusing to meet his eyes directly.
He gave a thoughtful hum. “If that’s how Your Majesty interprets it… I can’t find fault with it.”
Why did he have to make her sound so uncultured?
She swallowed her retort, knowing that denying it would only make her seem more ignorant. Instead, she brazenly kicked him. Watching his pristine white robe pick up a smudge of dirt gave her a petty sense of satisfaction.
“Oh no, I accidentally dirtied Uncle Wang’s clothes. Whatever shall I do?”
Gu Yan was known for his fastidiousness, but instead of reacting, he chuckled lightly. “It’s nothing. After all, I often dirty Your Majesty’s clothes as well.”
Seeing Feng Guang’s confusion, he added with a meaningful glance, “In bed.”
Her face flushed a deep red. “Gu Yan!”
“Yes, Your Majesty?” he responded gently, pulling her onto his lap with a swift motion. Lowering his head to her ear, he murmured, “Did Your Majesty not hear me?”
Oh no, she couldn’t let him keep teasing her like this!
Feng Guang smiled slyly and tilted her head to press a kiss to the corner of his lips. “If I say I heard you clearly, Uncle Wang wouldn’t have any reason to act so intimately with me, now would he?”
“In that case,” he replied with a smirk, “I see no reason not to act even more intimately.” His hand slid beneath her robes.
Again?!
Feng Guang scowled, about to yank his hand away, when a voice called from outside the tent. “Your Majesty, the Princess has returned!”
“Is that so?” she answered quickly. “I’ll be right out. Feng Ya has been missing for so long—I should go check on her.”
Gu Yan let out a long sigh.
Grinning at her small victory, Feng Guang removed his hand, jumped off his lap, and asked smugly, “Uncle Wang, will you accompany me to see Feng Ya?”
“If Your Majesty is going, how could I not?”
“Then hurry up and follow me,” she ordered triumphantly, walking out with a spring in her step.
Her pleased, smug demeanor was almost too much.
Gu Yan rose gracefully and followed behind her, already plotting which position tonight would make her cry and beg for mercy.
“Big Sister!” Inside the army’s main tent, Xia Feng Ya rushed forward to embrace Feng Guang.
But before she could reach her, Gu Yan lightly grabbed Feng Guang’s collar, gently redirecting her to the side. Xia Feng Ya’s attempt at a hug was missed entirely.
Seeing Gu Yan’s serene expression, Xia Feng Ya didn’t dare try again. Her small face was pale, and it was clear she’d suffered greatly. “Big Sister, you have no idea how miserable I’ve been!”
“What happened?” Feng Guang asked with a show of concern.
“Yesterday, while I was feeding the horses, a man in black suddenly appeared and kidnapped me!”
Feng Guang’s voice rose sharply. “Who dares to abduct a princess of Dongyun Kingdom?!”
“It was a spy from the enemy nation! He said he was going to use me to threaten General Lan!” Xia Feng Ya declared through gritted teeth.
“What?! Longtao Nation is truly despicable!” Feng Guang gritted her teeth as well, though inwardly she thought, Silly girl, saying that aloud is practically admitting you have something going on with Lan Tingrong.
Sure enough, Lan Tingrong’s expression turned slightly awkward, while Mu Liang, standing beside him, glared daggers at him.
Xia Feng Ya, blissfully unaware of the brewing tension in her “harem,” carried on without a care.
