Seeing Xue Ran avoid her gaze, Feng Guang couldn’t help but think that the shy man was adorable. Deciding to take the initiative, she moved closer and sat beside him. When their shoulders touched, Xue Ran tensed up completely.

“Oh, Dr. Xue, don’t you think Qingyu is amazing? He’s so young, yet he can cook and drive a carriage. Isn’t he practically perfect? Did you teach him?” She leaned in closer, her voice near his ear, and each word sent a warm breath through the thin veil over his ear.

Xue Ran stiffly scooted to the side, but when he moved, Feng Guang moved with him, keeping the distance between them the same as before.

“Miss Xia…”

“What’s wrong, Dr. Xue~?” She let her voice lift at the end in a playful, teasing way. Anyone would realize she was openly flirting, but so what? She was shamelessly bold about it, and even if someone told her it was inappropriate, she wouldn’t feel any guilt.

Xue Ran still couldn’t look at her. “There are boundaries between men and women…”

“What are you talking about, Dr. Xue?” Feng Guang replied in surprise. “You’re my father’s friend, so I see you as an elder. If I remember right, you’re twelve years older than me—a full zodiac cycle! In my heart, I already think of you as an uncle.”

Xue Ran couldn’t bring himself to say that there should be boundaries between them since it would sound like he was the one thinking inappropriately.

So he chose silence instead.

But Feng Guang had no intention of letting him off the hook. She lifted her hand to fix her hair, and, as if by accident, brushed against his arm. She acted as though she didn’t notice, but when he looked away, he realized he was about to fall off his seat if he moved any farther. He raised a hand to cover his closed eyes, letting out a long, deep sigh.

The look on his face was pure exasperation.

Feng Guang thought even his exasperation was irresistibly charming. She held back a laugh and put on a confused expression as if she couldn’t understand why he looked so troubled. Then, she poked his shoulder with her finger, and his whole body tensed up again.

“Dr. Xue, what’s the matter? You look like you’re in a bad mood. Don’t tell me you’re upset because I called you ‘uncle’ and made you feel old?”

“No,” he muttered, denying it, but couldn’t find anything else to say.

Feng Guang grinned, “Good, I was afraid you were angry with me.”

Xue Ran gave a quiet “mm,” and looked down at the book in his hands, avoiding her gaze again. His ears had gone an even deeper shade of red.

How could a man be this adorable?

Thick-skinned as ever, Feng Guang leaned in again, asking with a mischievous smile, “What book are you reading, Dr. Xue?”

Before Xue Ran could answer, the carriage suddenly stopped. Qingyu pushed open the door and poked his head inside. “Time for medicine.”

Feng Guang immediately pouted, giving Qingyu a resentful look.

Qingyu ignored her reaction and pulled his head back out, having delivered his message.

“Miss Xia, let’s step out of the carriage,” Xue Ran said, setting his book aside as he quickly stepped out. His pace was almost hurried, as though he were running away from some wild beast.

Feng Guang muttered under her breath, cursing Qingyu for ruining her fun, and followed him out.

Her daily herbal medicine had to be taken on time. After drinking it in the afternoon, the medicine would spread through her system by evening, readying her for acupuncture. Naturally, Qingyu prepared the medicine, and Xue Ran handled the acupuncture himself.

Feng Guang watched as Qingyu efficiently started a fire, pulled out tools from the luggage on the carriage, and began brewing her medicine. Finally, he sat on a rock, using a fan to keep the fire going. His smooth, practiced movements left her stunned.

She tugged on Xue Ran’s sleeve. “Is Qingyu a guy?”
