Ren Wo Xing didn’t answer Feng Chen Yiqiang’s question about what kind of grudge he had. Instead, he crouched down in front of Feng Guang, and due to the angle, she could finally see his eyes beneath his hood. Just as she imagined, they were the color of the night sky, but devoid of stars or moonlight. The way he stared at her sent a chill down her spine—something felt very wrong.
Sure enough, her instincts were spot on.
Ren Wo Xing asked Feng Chen Yiqiang, “Do you have a Xiu Chen Brush?”
“Yeah, why?” Feng Chen Yiqiang pulled a brush from his bag and handed it over.
“What do you think? How about I draw a turtle on her face?”
Feng Guang immediately panicked. “Ren Wo Xing, don’t you dare!”
“Watch me,” he replied.
The Xiu Chen Brush wasn’t ordinary. It was a limited item from the game’s Children’s Day event. If you used it to doodle on a player, the marks would stay for three days, no matter what you did to remove them.
Feng Chen Yiqiang couldn’t help but speak up. “Isn’t that a bit too much for a girl?”
After all, a woman’s face was important, even in a game.
Ren Wo Xing glanced at Feng Chen Yiqiang. “Feeling protective of the fairer sex?”
Feng Chen Yiqiang nodded, and Feng Guang looked at him, thinking she had found some hope.
“Yeah, drawing on a girl’s face is pretty extreme,” Feng Chen Yiqiang said seriously, but then he quickly broke character. “But man, it sounds fun! I’ve never done it before—count me in!”
He pulled out his own Xiu Chen Brush and crouched down on the other side of Feng Guang. For the first time, she felt the urge to curse out loud.
Logging out was not an option!
No way!
Logging out would mean admitting defeat, and that was not her style!
Just as Ren Wo Xing’s brush tip was about to touch her face, a system message popped up: Your nemesis, Wan Yang, has logged out.
Feng Chen Yiqiang stood there holding his brush, stunned as the person in front of him suddenly disappeared. He was flabbergasted. “She logged out just like that? I didn’t even get to draw! Didn’t she say she wasn’t going to log out!?”
Ren Wo Xing let out a soft chuckle.
Feng Chen Yiqiang immediately turned to look at him, but all he saw was Ren Wo Xing’s usual lazy and indifferent expression. It was as if that laugh had been a figment of his imagination. Yeah, right. There’s no way this guy would laugh—he’s not interested in anything.
Ren Wo Xing ignored Feng Chen Yiqiang’s reaction as it shifted from shock to resignation. Tossing the brush at him, Ren Wo Xing casually turned and walked away.
Feng Chen Yiqiang called after him, “Are you coming to the guild event later?”
“Not interested.” The lazy voice faded as he disappeared into a space-time portal, destination unknown.
This was the Ren Wo Xing Feng Chen Yiqiang was familiar with lifeless, indifferent, and completely uninterested in anything. What had just happened between him and Lady Sunset could only be explained by some kind of brain glitch.
And yet, the odds of him having a brain glitch were about as likely as the moon crashing into the Earth.
“Ren… Wo… Xing!”
Back in the real world, Feng Guang sat up in her gaming pod, muttering his name through gritted teeth. She called out to the system in her head. “Why does it feel like I’m destined to have a love-hate relationship with him? The hate is clear, but where’s the love?”
“Bitterness comes before sweetness,” the system replied coldly, then added, “It’s part of the plot.”
Feng Guang paused. “Wait, are you the system? You’re acting weird today.”
“…”
“Hey, system? You there?”
“Server optimization in progress. Entering sleep mode in three seconds. Please complete your tasks diligently, host.”
“Wait, what? Don’t just randomly go into sleep mode!” Feng Guang was losing it. “System? System!? Are you kidding me—you went to sleep!”
The system is sus 🤔
