FMLRWS Chapter 656

“Those who walk through the backdoor are just willful…”

As soon as Luo Xi sat down, the people around her began to gossip.

Although her expression was a bit awkward, she managed to remain calm.

Zhao Ze reassured her, “Don’t worry, Manager Zhang hasn’t arrived yet, so it won’t matter if she doesn’t know.”

Behind him, Zhang Yan sneered after hearing his words, “Zhao Ze, you’re not trying to protect her, are you? You should know that Manager Zhang hates people who are late and don’t take their work seriously the most.” Her words were hinting at something.

Zhao Ze smiled. “It’s only Luo Xi’s first day. There must be a reason she was late, so Manager Zhang definitely won’t make things difficult for her.”

His words made Luo Xi feel a bit embarrassed.

A reason?

Does oversleeping count?

In any case, when Manager Zhang eventually arrived, she didn’t say much. Instead, she handed Luo Xi a report and asked her to complete it herself.

Seeing that Manager Zhang was relatively easy to get along with, Luo Xi felt relieved and began to work diligently.

Zhang Yan let out a cold snort as she walked into the manager’s office with her documents. When she came out, she shot a smirk at Luo Xi that seemed to carry a sense of schadenfreude.

People around her whispered, “Zhang Yan must have reported her. That woman is really disgusting.”

“Absolutely. Last time Xiao Yu was late by a few minutes, and she reported it, and then Xiao Yu lost her perfect attendance bonus for the whole month.”

“Tsk tsk, that Luo Xi is so pretty. She’s probably in for a rough time.”

“…”

“Luo Xi, come in for a moment.”

Just as they were gossiping, the door to the manager’s office suddenly opened, and Manager Zhang’s voice sounded.

Luo Xi frowned and followed her inside.

The gossip around her only grew louder.

Zhang Yan looked a bit smug.

“Manager, you wanted to see me?”

Luo Xi stood awkwardly. Although she had an idea that Zhang Yan might have reported her, she figured it was best to ask.

The manager cleared her throat and reminded her, “I’m aware that you were late this afternoon. Although I know you might not have done it on purpose, since it was noticed by others, I have to impose some punishment. Otherwise, your colleagues might have objections. So, after work today, you’ll have to clean the office.”

She spoke with a stern face, but Luo Xi couldn’t shake the feeling that her expression was somewhat stiff. She nodded and replied, “Okay.”

“The work start hours have also changed to 2:30 in the afternoon. Make sure not to be late next time,” the manager added.

Luo Xi was stunned for a while, but she quickly regained her composure and nodded again.

The manager then dismissed her.

When everyone saw her come out so quickly and without hearing the manager yelling at her, they couldn’t help but raise their brows in confusion.

Did the manager really say just a few words to her and let her go?

Well, after all, Luo Xi was just a new employee. The manager was likely to be a bit gentler with new hires.

Zhang Yan’s expression became ugly for a moment when she saw that Luo Xi was alright.

Soon after, the group received a message that left everyone stunned.

“The work start time has changed to 2:30. Is this real? Am I reading this wrong?”

“Holy crap, it’s true! Why was the time suddenly changed?”

“…”

The crowd quickly began to cheer when they realized the work hours had been shortened by half an hour.

Luo Xi was also added to the group by the manager. That’s when she learned that it was possible to log into WeChat during work hours, as many work announcements were sent through WeChat, so everyone was online.
