WBSGVS Chapter 79 V1

The skills Xiaoyu learned from Qingli were no joke.

Although she’d only trained for a few months, she was eating well, sleeping well, and building up her strength every day. Her opponent was only two years older than her and lacked any real technique.

It was easy for Xiaoyu to overpower her.

What Xiaoyu feared most wasn’t Dabao and Erbao but their parents. When adults get unreasonable, it’s a nightmare for kids. But with Qingli backing her up, she didn’t hesitate at all once she started fighting.

Dabao could only cry out in pain.

Erbao suddenly noticed and rushed over. “How dare you hit my sister?!”

He tried to strike.

But before he could, Xiaoyu looked up from holding Dabao down, caught his swing, and yanked him hard with both hands.

“Aah!” Dabao screamed again.

“Urgh!” Erbao groaned as he fell onto Dabao. It didn’t hurt much, but his chest and stomach felt cramped from the awkward position.

“You were the ones bullying me!” Xiaoyu said, aggrieved, landing blows on both of them.

But she was still just one person, and with Erbao helping, the two of them put up more of a fight, leading to a three-way scuffle.

This scene left the other classmates stunned, staring at each other, unsure if they should call the teacher.

It wasn’t until Xiaoyu started to lose ground that someone dashed off. “Teacher! There’s a fight!”

The teacher soon arrived and separated the three kids.

Ms. Li looked at them sternly. “What are you doing?! Do you all want to be punished?! Du Qingyu! You’re the class monitor, and you joined in the fight?”

Xiaoyu looked down, red-eyed, sniffling. Her hair was messy, and her clothes were disheveled, making her look like a pitiful, bullied child.

Ms. Li’s voice faltered. She loved this child—sweet, obedient, and so clever.

She turned her glare to Dabao and Erbao. “What’s going on? Two against one? Impressive!”

Dabao pouted, staying silent.

She looked even worse off than Xiaoyu, though Xiaoyu had avoided pulling her hair, so besides a few red marks, she wasn’t badly hurt. She was embarrassed, though, losing a fight in front of everyone, so she didn’t want to speak.

Erbao pursed his lips, silent as well.

Ms. Li sighed. Nobody was hurt badly enough to call the parents—it’d be a waste of time for everyone involved, especially since most parents were working and couldn’t easily leave.

She turned to the class. “Who can tell me what happened? I’ll give a little red star to whoever speaks up.”

Some kids didn’t dare speak, looking down, but one brave child raised their hand and called out, “Teacher, I know!”

Ms. Li quickly learned the story and looked at Dabao and Erbao with even more disappointment. It was bad enough that they rarely paid attention in class, but now they were instigating fights?

Thankfully, they lost, or else they’d be even more arrogant.

She said sternly, “The three of you, hold out your hands!”

Xiaoyu had expected this. Her chest felt a pang of sadness, yet a strange sense of relief too, so she wasn’t afraid of the punishment.

Slap! Her palm stung for a moment, and then… it was over.

The sound of more hand slaps followed.

Xiaoyu kept her head down, but a tiny smile curled on her lips.

Though she’d gotten a few hits from Erbao, leaving her arms and legs sore, and her clothes dirty, she’d still gotten more punches in on Dabao, and quite a few on Erbao too. She’d even gotten a lighter punishment—what a win.

Neither Dabao nor Erbao told their parents about the fight afterward.

They were in the wrong, and with the teacher’s scolding, saying anything at home would only make it worse. Besides, Xiaoyu hadn’t hurt them too badly; this lesson wasn’t enough.

They both silently agreed—they’d find a chance to fight her again.

Xiaoyu, however, told Qingli about it.

Even if she hadn’t said anything, Qingli would’ve noticed. Xiaoyu’s clothes and hair were far from her usual neat appearance. But before Qingli could ask, Xiaoyu bounded over, smiling. “Big Sister!”

Seeing the dimples on her face, Qingli couldn’t help but smile too. “What’s up?”

Feeling reassured, Xiaoyu said proudly, “I… I got into a fight with Xiang Lian and her brother!”

Qingli patted her head and praised her, “Well done!”

Does that count as amazing?

Xiaoyu’s eyes widened. She’d had a bit of doubt, wondering if her sister would be disappointed since she didn’t completely win the fight.

But looking at Qingli’s expression, she felt warm inside, and that happiness made her feel a little dizzy. She said in a small voice, “At first, I was winning, but then her brother joined in, and I… well, it got hard to keep up. But!” She hurried to explain, “I didn’t lose!”

“Wow! Amazing!” Qingli exclaimed in mock surprise. “Two of them against just you, and you didn’t lose? That’s incredible!”

Xiaoyu blushed and smiled shyly.

Qingli chuckled. “You did great, so training is going to continue, okay? Aim to get so strong that they won’t dare mess with you again, alright?”

Knowing those two wouldn’t let things go, Qingli figured Xiaoyu would need to handle this herself until they backed down.

Xiaoyu nodded enthusiastically. “Okay!”

She used to prefer homework, but now, she was excited to train too.

She wanted to get even stronger!

Then her sister would praise her even more!

Every day, Xiaoyu was full of motivation. She even insisted that Qingli not pick her up, saying she wanted to use the walk to school and back as extra training.

The distance wasn’t far, and it was just fields along the way, so Qingli agreed. Not having to pick up a kid made things easier.

As for Dabao and Erbao, they were also putting in the effort. As the children of a former soldier, they knew the importance of strength in a fight. That last loss had been humiliating for Dabao, and relying on Erbao to win didn’t feel right.

Even as kids, they understood some rules—boys getting involved in a girls’ fight would only get them looked down on.

So, a few days passed peacefully. Other than Dabao and Erbao occasionally giving Xiaoyu hostile looks, nothing happened.

This was all information Qingli had gotten from Xiaoyu, so she thought maybe those two had learned to hold back.

Then, one day, Xiang Lifeng and Song Dongyun showed up at her door with a tearful Dabao and Erbao, both looking furious. Xiang Lifeng’s face was dark as he said, “Your child did this to both of mine. How do you explain that?”

Qingli instinctively looked at Dabao and Erbao.

Wow.

Dabao had a huge bruise on her face, and her exposed arm was bruised too. Erbao looked even worse, with a big bump on his head and scraped knees.

Xiaoyu did a number on them!

Qingli couldn’t help but praise her in her mind. Since it was the weekend, Xiaoyu had eaten breakfast and gone out to meet up with friends for a playdate, so she wasn’t home yet. It was only around 10 a.m., and she wasn’t expected back for a while.

Seeing Qingli staying silent and just staring at his kids, Xiang Lifeng’s face darkened further, raising his voice. “Dabao bullied your kid once, so you tripped her. Now what?”

Hearing the commotion, Song Jin came out from the kitchen, frowning slightly.

Qingli told him, “Keep working, I’ll handle this.”

Ever since Qingli started teaching Xiaoyu fighting techniques, Song Jin knew she wasn’t one to mess around. Seeing how confident she was, he went back to the kitchen without another word.

His calm response made Song Dongyun, who had been quiet, glance at him with surprise.

She didn’t think much of the whole incident. After dealing with Dabao and Erbao’s antics for so long, even her fondness for kids had worn thin. Besides, these were still just kids, and Xiaoyu was younger than Dabao, facing two opponents at once.

Losing to her was embarrassing, plain and simple.
