WBSGVS Chapter 178 V1

Aside from the top three obvious trending topics, there were a bunch of messy clickbait posts stirring up drama, but most of the traffic was centered on those three.

Qingli didn’t even need to click on the posts. Just reading the trending tags was enough to get the picture.

She tapped on one at random, and immediately saw a post from a gossip account:

[As everyone knows, yesterday was the wedding day of rising star Huo Qingli. Many people offered their congratulations. Her husband, Chi Yue, may be in a wheelchair, but judging by the photo on their marriage certificate, he’s every bit as handsome as today’s top idols. While the couple looks like a perfect pair deeply in love, rumors suggest otherwise—some claim that even the much-pampered Huo Qingli is just a tool in a strategic marriage alliance.]

Below the post were several attached images—screenshots of alleged “insider” tips and gossip.

One claimed to be a relative of someone who once worked as a housekeeper for the Chi family:

[My relative used to work as a maid in the Chi household. She’s seen that young master’s temper firsthand. Ever since he broke his legs, his moods have been unpredictable. The worst part? His parents would rather adopt a relative’s child than let him marry early. I heard it’s because he’s… not functional. And now he’s married? In the name of true love? What a joke!]

Another chimed in:

[I know someone who works at Chi Corporation. They say the few times Chi Yue showed up at the office, he caused huge scenes—yelling, breaking things. I think he might have an anger disorder.]

[Rumor has it this is a business alliance, not a real marriage. Huo Qingli had no choice. This is what a real rich-family marriage looks like—where benefits matter more than love.]

And the comments section? Just as toxic:

  • “Poor Qingli. Imagine spending the rest of your life with someone like that. Terrifying.”

  • “Damn, with a temper like his, he’s probably abusive! At least Shen Yanjun wasn’t like that.”

  • “She just got out of one cheating scandal and fell straight into an abuse trap. Qingli has a talent for picking losers.”

  • “So this is what ‘pampering your daughter’ looks like? The Huo family married her off to a violent cripple with a temper?”

  • “Sis, RUN! You’re not broke—why let them force you into this mess of a marriage?”

Qingli scrolled through the endless string of similar comments. This was the work of paid trolls stirring the pot. But still, to the average internet user, this was all the “truth” they saw. Repeated often enough, even lies start sounding believable.

If it were just her they were attacking, she wouldn’t care. But the real target here… was Chi Yue.

So what was the motive?

This didn’t seem like Shen Yanjun’s style. He was arrogant, not the type to use underhanded tactics like this. The original Qingli didn’t have many friends, nor enemies.

Except… Xu Yin?

Qingli had nearly forgotten about her. But now? Maybe it was time to return the favor, with interest.

Just as she was about to exit the page, she felt a sudden weight on her shoulder.

She turned her head—sometime while she was reading, Chi Yue had sat up. Even the bright red sleepwear couldn’t add warmth to his pale face. He was staring at the screen with a dark expression, chin resting on her shoulder. Because he was so thin, his chin was sharp enough to feel uncomfortable.

When he noticed her looking, Chi Yue’s gloomy face softened into something pitiful. Wrapping both arms tightly around her, he growled in a low, possessive voice—like a guard dog refusing to share, “You’re mine. You’re not allowed to leave.”

He sounded fierce, but his chest pressed against her back was beating fast and hard, betraying his anxiety.

He hadn’t expected such negativity to explode online the very next morning after their wedding. Yesterday’s happiness hadn’t even had time to settle before it was doused with cold water.

Would A-Li see all this and be afraid? Ashamed of marrying him? Regret it?

He didn’t dare imagine it.

So he just held her tighter.

Qingli was nearly being squeezed breathless. She lightly patted his arm, but he didn’t budge. Well then. Time for the ultimate move. She twisted around and gave him a quick kiss right on the lips.

The soft, sudden contact left Chi Yue stunned. All his dark emotions paused, then quickly faded away. He blinked, stared at her directly, and his pale face flushed red. The gloom in his eyes began to lift.

His attention shifted, and his grip relaxed noticeably.

Sensing her moment, Qingli turned a little more, cupped his face in her hands, and gave him another kiss—this time on his left cheek. “Feeling better now?” she asked, grinning.

Chi Yue didn’t respond, but the blush spreading across his face was obvious. His gaze stayed locked on her, clearly demanding more.

Qingli obliged, kissing his right cheek too.

Now his whole face was bright red. The arms around her waist loosened completely, and the tension in his body melted. A shy smile played on his lips as he asked carefully, “You… don’t mind what people are saying online?”

“If I minded, I wouldn’t have asked my dad to bring up the marriage proposal to your family in the first place,” Qingli said with certainty. Seeing his smile grow wider, she teasingly added, “Besides, we’re already married. What, you thinking of backing out now?”

“Absolutely not!” Chi Yue shook his head so fast it nearly blurred, afraid she might misunderstand.

Qingli laughed. “Then it’s settled.”

Chi Yue finally relaxed, happiness blooming across his face. But a faint trace of unease still lingered in his brows. He knew—this marriage had been a big step up for him. His temper was unpredictable. In the past, he’d lash out at the slightest provocation just to spite his parents.

And because they felt guilty about what had happened to him, they’d always let it slide.

Over the years, his temper had only gotten worse.

Especially after the accident, losing his ability to walk had shattered his world. He used to live recklessly, chasing every thrill. But now, in a wheelchair, the world lost its color. All he’d wanted was an end—to die, preferably in a way that would leave his parents drowning in guilt.

That’s why, when that child pushed his wheelchair that day, he didn’t say a word.
