TVCEO Chapter 22.2

Lin Qiao took out her mobile phone, flipped out a photo taken this morning, and handed it to him.

“Mr. Liu, do you recognize the person in the photo?”

Although they had been apart for nearly sixty years, Liu Bolu recognized the old lady in the photo at a glance, whose hair was completely white and whose eyes and eyebrows were already marked by the traces of time.

“Shu…Shugui?”

Liu Bolu’s lips trembled as he looked at the smiling old lady in the photo in disbelief.

The reason why Liu Bolu lived in this small village was that he had been an educated youth here for two years during a special period.

The story started from that special period. At that time, Liu Bolu, 20 years old, responded to the country’s call and came to the countryside. He wanted to contribute his own strength to the motherland here. However, after arriving, he found that everything was very different from what he had imagined, so he soon began to think about returning to the city.

At this time, he met a sixteen-year-old country girl with two thick black braids, a face like an apple, and a sweet and beautiful smile.

Liu Bolu quickly fell in love with this girl. She became his only spiritual sustenance during his exile.

Liu Bolu once hesitated, thinking of staying in the countryside. After all, the chance of returning to the city was slim, and his beloved girl was here. But when the opportunity came and he was faced with the choice, he still couldn’t let go of his ‘dream’ and left the countryside.

He told the girl that he would come back to find her one day.

Since then, the girl has been waiting in the village every day, but Liu Bolu never came back.

When the girl was 20 years old, her parents arranged for her to marry a fellow villager. The fellow villager treated her badly, and after a few years, the girl could no longer bear it and went to the city to work.

At that time, Liu Bolu had already gone overseas and started his glorious and brilliant life.

Until a few years ago, Liu Bolu returned to China after success and thought of the girl again.

Liu Bolu never married in his life, let alone had children. His love stopped at the first encounter in his youth. That unexpected beauty, every lover since then was not as unforgettable as the girl.

After returning to China, Liu Bolu tried to find the girl, and some media also reported this ‘tragic love story of the times’. However, with the vicissitudes of life in the past sixty years, the girl is likely no longer alive.

With regret, Liu Bolu returned to this small village, recalling the good old days and spending his old age in peace.

“Shugui? Is it really Shugui?” Tears welled up in Liu Bolu’s cloudy eyes.

Lin Qiao numbly held up her phone, not feeling moved at all.

“But her name is Guishu…”

What Lin Qiao heard from the old lady Wang Guishu was a completely different version of the story.

She went to Shangwang Village early in the morning to look for the old lady named Wang Guishu.

Old lady Wang Guishu said that when she was young, she did like an educated youth from the city. At that time, she felt that the educated youth was handsome, smart, and cultured, which was incomparable to those rough guys in the village.

She said that she had never been to school, so she wanted to learn more from the educated youth. After a few interactions, they became good friends, and the educated youth even promised that he would come back to find her.
