Yan Xianhong writhed on the ground, his back and lower body in excruciating pain, letting out a shriek before gasping for breath.
Yan Qing didn’t let him off immediately, delivering a few more kicks to his stomach. It was his greed and schemes that caused the original Yan Qing to suffer so much!
“Ugh…” Yan Xianhong groaned, curling up like a shrimp as tears of pain streamed down his face.
The sudden shift in events left Nie Cuihua momentarily stunned. When she realized what had happened, she shrieked, “Ahhh—my husband!” She scrambled toward him, trying to help him up, only to find that he was in so much pain that he looked ready to pass out.
Nie Cuihua snapped. Her patience broke entirely as she stood up and lunged at Yan Qing, intent on teaching her a lesson as she had in the past. “You worthless brat! How could you be so cruel? That’s your uncle! I should’ve abandoned you when I had the chance!”
Nie Cuihua tried to strike her, but Yan Qing was ready. Her eyes flashed coldly as she dodged and delivered a swift kick to Nie Cuihua’s knee, knocking her off balance. Grabbing both of Nie Cuihua’s arms, Yan Qing executed another clean throw.
Thud!
The sound of Nie Cuihua’s hefty body hitting the ground echoed through the area. Her fall landed her directly on Yan Xianhong, aggravating his injuries further. Yan Xianhong let out a strangled gasp before passing out completely.
“She’s killed someone!” a panicked voice screamed, and someone immediately called the police.
Yan Qing remained unfazed, certain of her actions. She had calculated the force precisely; Nie Cuihua might have fallen hard, but the worst injuries would be bruises or a sprain. Still, with such a scene unfolding, she wasn’t going anywhere just yet.
“You’re so heartless!” a nearby girl shouted, stepping in to block Yan Qing’s path. “How could you treat your own family like that?”
Yan Qing gestured toward the chaotic group sobbing and wailing behind her and asked calmly, “Do you even know what they’ve done to me?”
The girl hesitated, caught off guard.
Suddenly, a clear and firm voice rang out, “They deserve every bit of this! These people stole Yan Qing’s father’s company, abused her, and even planned to sell her! If the Chu family hadn’t stepped in and adopted her out of kindness, who knows what would’ve happened to her?”
Yan Qing turned to see Xu Dongfeng walking toward them with a serious expression, his gaze fixed on the girl. “You shouldn’t criticize someone when you don’t know the full story. Acting like a saint just makes you look foolish.”
The girl froze, visibly startled by his words.
“That’s… Yan Qing?” she asked, a hint of shock in her voice. News about Yan Qing’s tragic and then fortunate turn of events spread widely after the Chu family publicly clarified everything at the school assembly.
Yan Qing nodded. “That’s me.”
The girl’s face flushed with embarrassment, and she quickly bowed in apology. “I’m sorry, I was wrong. They deserved it!”
Yan Qing’s large, doe-like eyes curved into a faint smile, though her gaze remained distant and indifferent. “It’s fine.”
It wasn’t worth her concern.
She glanced at Xu Dongfeng, her eyes softening slightly as she asked with a brighter smile, “Thank you. By the way, why didn’t you leave earlier?”
“I heard there was some commotion, so I came back to see what was happening,” Xu Dongfeng replied with a casual grin, glancing at the group surrounding Yan Xianhong. The school guards had arrived, and though the Yan family wanted to confront Yan Qing, they didn’t dare make a move under the guards’ watchful eyes. Instead, they glared at her hatefully from a distance.
Yan Qing nodded. “I’ll head to the police station now. You should head home.”
With that, Xu Dongfeng finally left.
As he departed, Yan Qing called Chu Yang on her phone, asking him to send over someone from the legal team.
Just as she finished the call, a panicked scream rang out. A familiar voice cried, “Zhao Zhao, what’s wrong? Don’t be scared… It’s okay now…”
Yan Qing’s expression shifted as she hurried toward the sound. She found Zhou Huaiya looking distressed, standing beside Chu Zhao, who appeared to be in the throes of a violent episode.
Qin Zhen was already carrying Chu Zhao out of his wheelchair with practiced ease, trying to calm him down.
“Zhao Zhao!” Yan Qing called out anxiously, but a school guard stopped her. “You can’t leave yet, miss. Wait here until we escort you home.”
Zhou Huaiya turned around at the sound of Yan Qing’s voice. Though her face was tense with worry, she managed a polite tone. “Qing Qing, Auntie has to go. Take care of yourself and head straight home later, alright?”
“Okay,” Yan Qing replied, her eyes fixed on Chu Zhao as he clenched his fists and repeatedly hit his own head in a fit of distress.
Without hesitation, Yan Qing pulled out her phone and called Chu Zhao’s number.
When Zhou Huaiya answered the call, she put the phone to Chu Zhao’s ear. Hearing Yan Qing’s voice helped soothe him slightly, though he still seemed agitated and uneasy.
After being taken to the police station, Yan Xianhong and Nie Cuihua were sent to the hospital, while Yan Qing’s grandparents accompanied Yan Min and her husband to the station to file complaints.
At the station, Yan Min furiously pointed at Yan Qing and accused, “She deliberately hurt my brother! He’s in the hospital now! Officer, I demand you arrest her!”
Yan Qing, looking entirely unbothered, gave Yan Min a sweet smile, the picture of innocence. She resembled nothing more than an ordinary sixteen-year-old girl.
Yan Min’s pupils contracted in shock as she stared at Yan Qing, almost as if she didn’t recognize her. How had Yan Qing suddenly become so strong?
The police officer calmed Yan Min down and placed her and Yan Qing in separate rooms to take their statements.
In her interview, Yan Qing could still hear Yan Min’s sharp, hysterical voice coming from the next room, but she paid it no mind, remaining calm and composed.
The officer asked her seriously, “Why did you hurt them?”
Yan Qing replied earnestly, “Self-defense. He was going to hit me.”
The officer frowned. “There were so many people present. Why did you think he was going to hit you?”
Yan Qing answered, “Because he’s hit me many times before. You can check the records at the Public Security Bureau on XX Road—I’ve filed reports there before.”
