TFRLTOP Chapter 72 Part 3

She drove like she was at a bumper car ride—chaotic, full throttle, zigzagging everywhere, zombies flying left and right.

“AAAAHHH, the windshield cracked!!!”

“It’s fine! Just a small crack!” the system said soothingly.

“You call this spiderweb a small crack?!”

Far away, on top of a tall building, a fully armed man crouched, watching the scene below through his scope.

Voices crackled through his comms:
“A5 sector clear.”
“B6 sector clear.”
“C9 sector—zombie riot, no survivors. Zombies fighting mutants, weird one.”

The man tapped his earpiece. “Possible survivor spotted in B3 sector. Team, regroup.”

“Stop the car,” the system suddenly said.

Ming Ming’s eyes widened. “Are you insane or am I?!”

“Just do it! Someone’s coming to save you!”

She slammed the brakes, almost flying into the dashboard. “Really?! Someone’s actually coming?!”

Zombies swarmed from all directions toward the jeep.

Bang!

One fell.

Bang!

Another dropped.

Gunfire.

Someone really was saving her.

Ming Ming let out a shaky breath.

From the nearby rooftop, a man leapt down. Ming Ming gasped—but then noticed a thick cable reel him in midair before retracting.

He slung his sniper rifle over his back, drew two pistols, and began firing—each shot clean, each movement effortless. Zombies dropped one after another as he walked forward, calm and steady, like a god descending from the heavens.

Engines revved nearby—cars and motorcycles converging on her location.

When the area was clear, several armed men surrounded her jeep, weapons trained, alert and ready.

The man in sunglasses walked up to her. His expression was unreadable, but even through the shades, his laid-back, commanding presence was unmistakable. The others instinctively made way for him.

He was clearly their leader.

He stopped in front of the jeep and barked, “Get out.”

Ming Ming took a deep breath. “System, I’m going! Any last advice?”

The system spoke quickly, “See that cocky-looking guy who’s clearly in charge? He’s the male lead.”

Ming Ming stepped out of the jeep, standing awkwardly.

The man frowned immediately. “A woman? You infected? How are you even still alive?”

She just stared at him blankly.

The system continued, “In this world, the male and female leads are equals—battle partners, fated together. Everyone thinks they’re a perfect match. You, however, are the clingy ‘white lotus’ who falls for the male lead after he saves you.”

At that, clarity flashed in Ming Ming’s eyes.

She suddenly ran forward, threw her arms around his leg, and burst into tears. “Male lead! Look at me! I’m your sweet little white lotus! I finally found you! I was so scared—wahhh!”

Love at first sight? She didn’t know about that. But latching onto the strongest guy around to stay alive? That, she could do.

The man looked down at her, completely baffled, frowning hard as he pulled her off his leg. “What are you even saying? Stop grabbing me. Answer the question—are you infected or not?”

Ming Ming pouted up at him and shook her head firmly.

He studied her through his sunglasses for a long moment, then warned coldly, “Don’t try anything. Or I’ll shoot.”

Ming Ming nodded obediently.

“Take her back,” he ordered.

Inside, Ming Ming quietly cheered. “System, does this mean I’ve officially latched onto him?”

System: “…Is that really the takeaway here?”
