TFRLTOP Chapter 6 Part 2

She even forced Butler Wu to say, “Miss Chu, you’re the first woman Fifth Master has ever brought home.”

If he refused, she would hover at his side, peppering him with constant chatter until he cracked.

Ming Ming’s logic: The female lead never gets to use this line anyway, so why let the butler skip the step?

At first, Butler Wu could still respond expressionlessly with “Wear it or don’t,” “Eat it or don’t,” “Don’t bother me.”

He’d seen it all before—nothing could faze him…

But after hearing “Butler Wu” eight hundred times a day for several days straight, with no sign of it letting up, he finally broke and called Chen Si.

“Hello?”

At that moment, Fifth Master Huo and his group had just wrapped up negotiations and were riding back to their place. Chen Si was a bit surprised to get a call from Butler Wu—ever since he’d grown up with Fifth Master, the butler had never once asked about their return date.

“What is it, Old Wu?”

On the other end of the ocean, Butler Wu was silent for a moment before hesitantly asking, “Do you… know anything about Siberian rock candy?”

“What?” Chen Si was baffled. “Siberia has rock candy?”

His question caught the attention of the others in the car.

“Never mind,” Butler Wu said. “I just wanted to ask—when will you be back?”

Chen Si glanced at Fifth Master. “Soon. Why? Something wrong?”

There was another short silence. Chen Si could faintly hear noisy sounds in the background and started to get the picture.

“No, nothing,” Butler Wu said.

After a pause, he finally added with grim weight, “If you can, come back as soon as possible.”

After he hung up, Fifth Master asked, “Something going on at home?”

“Old Wu asked when we’d be back.” Chen Si paused, then chuckled. “Sounds like… things are lively at home.”

Fifth Master gave him a look but said nothing. Chen Si just shrugged, and the topic dropped.

When they were almost at their hotel, Huo Xiao suddenly ordered, “Pack up. We’re flying back today.”

“Yes, sir.”

Chen Si quietly exchanged a glance with his younger brother, Chen Jing.

It seemed the Huo household was about to get very lively indeed.

The next day, several Rolls-Royce Phantoms drove into the Huo family estate, and the group immediately noticed something was off.

First, fewer people were waiting to greet them at the gates.

Second, the servants they saw along the way all seemed to be gathering toward a certain spot.

“What’s going on? Fifth Master’s only been gone a few days and the household rules are already slipping?” Chen Si frowned in disapproval.

Driving farther in, they began to hear some commotion.

Under a tree stood Butler Wu, head tilted up, his voice strained to remain calm but carrying an almost imperceptible tremor, like he was seething with frustration. Around him were gathered gardeners, security guards, and maids.

“Come down.”

“No! Not unless you let me out!”

“Those pants weren’t for climbing trees.”

“What do you think I wanted pants for?”

…

They all got out of the car and walked over, only to see Chu Yun perched on a tree branch, locked in a standoff with Butler Wu. Neither side was willing to yield. Butler Wu was shaking with anger, while she swung her legs casually as if enjoying the view.

When Butler Wu saw Fifth Master return, it was like spotting a savior. He immediately stepped forward respectfully, ready to complain.

“What’s going on?” Huo Xiao’s voice was low, his eyes fixed on Ming Ming in the tree.

The area instantly went silent.

From her lofty perch, Ming Ming looked down at him, gave a short huff, and turned her head away.
