Ming Ming: “…”

When Ming Ming didn’t respond, Ye Weiran hesitated, then asked quietly:
“Has he… been treating you badly?”

Ming Ming nodded tearfully.
He left me penniless.

Without another word, Ye Weiran pulled out a bank card. “The PIN is six zeroes. It’s not much, but it’ll help in an emergency. Don’t stand on ceremony with me—if you ever need anything, just come to me directly.”

Her kindness made Ming Ming feel guilty. She hadn’t given Ye Weiran any real sincerity, and yet here she was, receiving it in full.

“This won’t do. I can’t take your money. I was just joking, really—you can ignore everything I said…”

But Ye Weiran pressed the card into her hand firmly and whispered:
“In an unequal relationship, you have to love yourself more.”

Ming Ming was genuinely moved. Ye Weiran seemed to be truly, deeply concerned for her.

“Don’t worry. He’ll get tired of me soon, and then I’ll finally be free.”

She knew that as the tragic side character, leaving him might only mark the start of her real suffering. Still, she was touched by the heroine’s kindness.

The system was about to sigh, Perfect, this is exactly the reaction we wanted, when it heard Ming Ming mutter to herself:

“I just hope she stays this kind when it’s time to torment me later…”

System: I really hope you’ll show a little dignity.

Ye Weiran looked at the girl in front of her and suddenly remembered that day—standing before that man, trembling under his overwhelming aura, speaking a whole flood of righteous accusations… and yet he hadn’t spared her a single glance. But when she finally asked, “Do you really love Chu Yun?”—his eyes had hardened in anger.

Back then, he had said, “As long as I’m alive, she’ll be the mistress of the Huo family.”
Standing tall against the light, a rare trace of tenderness had flickered across his deep, dark gaze.

Now, watching Chu Yun act one moment proud and arrogant, the next carefree and reckless, Ye Weiran couldn’t tell whether this was a blessing or a curse.

Taking Ming Ming’s hand, she spoke with the gentle affection of a mother: “You have to take good care of yourself.”

Ming Ming nodded quickly. “Mm-hm!”

When Ye Weiran led Jiang Ming away, the look he shot Ming Ming was full of fury. His gritted teeth all but spelled it out: I misjudged you, you little tramp! Turns out you weren’t trying to seduce me—you were trying to seduce my wife! Such a wolf in sheep’s clothing—unforgivable!

Ming Ming silently flipped him the middle finger.

By the second half of the banquet, things finally got “lively.”

“You think you’re worthy of challenging my He family?!”

With a furious roar, He Chengtian dropped the gentleman act and lunged at Jiang Ming. Ye Weiran didn’t even look worried—in fact, she tugged up her gown and stepped back out of the way.

Jiang Ming had looked tall, skinny, and not all that muscular, but the moment the fists started flying, it was clear he knew how to fight. Every punch landed solidly, forcing He Chengtian back. Losing ground and face, He Chengtian grew enraged, flipping tables and chairs until the place was a wreck, wine bottles clattering all over the floor.

He Lu screamed on the sidelines: “He Chengtian, are you out of your mind? Stop it right now!”

But he was already blinded by rage, deaf to everyone. Jiang Ming, on the other hand, stayed calm and precise, countering every strike with ease, as if his opponent wasn’t even worth his attention.

A few hangers-on itched to jump in and help He Chengtian, but the sight of Jiang Ming’s skill made them falter.

Ming Ming, happily watching the show from the side, suddenly felt someone yank her hair so hard it nearly ripped her scalp off. She cried out in pain.

The next second, a cup of wine splashed into her face. The alcohol stung her eyes, blinding her instantly.

She squeezed her eyes shut, her whole body seizing up.

“What, you think you’re hot stuff? Can’t wait to broadcast to the whole world that you snagged some guy? Come on then, share with us—how exactly do you ‘serve’ a man?” The heiress, yanking her hair, had been scolded by her dad for a full week over this affair, and now she was venting it all on Ming Ming.

“You rotten—! Let go of me!” Ming Ming cursed, afraid to open her eyes because more wine would pour in.

“Someone’s coming at you from the right,” the system warned.

Without hesitation, Ming Ming lashed out with her leg. Since she couldn’t see and didn’t want to risk missing, she didn’t hold back at all. Her kick landed with a heavy thud, followed by a bloodcurdling scream.

Twisting, she seized the wrist of the girl, yanking her hair, then swung her right arm hard—smack!—delivering a resounding slap.

Finally freeing her hair, she wiped her face with one hand, then grabbed the offender by the collar and unleashed four more slaps in a row, each louder than the last.

Smack after smack, she scolded: “Do you have any idea how precious a programmer’s hair is? And mine’s already thinning, damn it—who gave you the right to pull it out?!”

Another heiress lunged at her with claws out, but Ye Weiran rushed in and shoved the girl to the floor.

“I told you brats before—don’t cause trouble at my family’s banquet!” He Lu was already annoyed beyond patience, storming over to grab another heiress by the hair.

On one side, the men were brawling with fists and shouts. On the other hand, the women were just as vicious, scratching and kicking with no mercy. Compared to the rest, Ming Ming’s trio clearly had the upper hand.

The chaos was so out of control that nobody could stop it. The onlookers, helpless, resorted to the time-honored tradition—calling the parents.

By the time the adults arrived, Ming Ming had already beaten the troublemaking heiresses into submission. Dusting off her hands, she stood tall while the others groaned on the ground.

At first glance, it looked like Ming Ming’s side had fared worse. She herself was drenched in alcohol, hair, and face a mess. Ye Weiran’s dress was ripped, and He Lu’s elegant updo had unraveled until she looked like a madwoman.

Their opponents, while rolling around on the ground wailing, looked outwardly far less battered.

But the truth was, Ming Ming’s side had fought smarter—aiming for the soft spots: chest, stomach, underarms, inner arms. Painful enough to make them howl, but leaving bruises that wouldn’t show right away.

So at that moment, it was obvious who looked worse off.

Oh, and one more thing—if we’re talking about power and family background, the Ye and He families had the real advantage here.

Having avenged herself and taken shelter under both families’ influence, Ming Ming felt triumphant.

The three girls exchanged looks, smiling at their newfound bond forged in battle.

But joy never lasts.

Flush with pride, Ming Ming spun around—only to step right onto a wine bottle.

CRASH! Down she went, flat on the floor.

He Lu and Ye Weiran scrambled to pull her up.

“Are you okay?”

Ming Ming blinked. “I think… I really did sprain my ankle this time.”
