“What if we get sent to different places?”

“Will you keep loving me?”

She kept asking again and again, like a child who needed reassurance — even though she always turned it into:

“I just want to be with you forever.”

She rested against his chest, wishing time would stop.

This world ended when Mingming was 21 — the same age she had been in the real world.

That day, the weather was nice.
After eating out, they went for a walk in a park.

Suddenly, a sharp electronic sound echoed in her ears.

Xiao Yunmu’s expression turned serious.
She knew: he heard it too.

But this time, the announcement was different.

No congratulations. No achievement message.

Instead, broken broadcast-like static:

“This world… failed… failed… scanning… qualified… excellent… failed…”

The world started to collapse into data. Everything turned into strings of numbers.
The void swallowed them both.

“Wait for me,” Xiao Yunmu said firmly. “No matter what world we end up in, I’ll find you.”

“Okay.”

As her voice fell, the two of them turned into drifting white snowflakes and vanished into the void.

The scripted world reset itself.

Everything resumed as normal.

Mingming was confused.

Why was she sent away so suddenly this time?
Why didn’t she meet the system in the void?

What kind of world was this?

She didn’t have to wait long.

It felt like surfacing from underwater.
Real noise flooded into her ears.

Familiar surroundings.

She was back.

Back in the real world.
Back to the life she had lived for 21 years.

It felt like a beautiful, fake dream.

Now the dream had ended, and she’d returned to normal life.

She checked her phone.

It was the day after her car accident.

In this version of reality, the accident never happened.
She had simply lived through the past 24 hours normally.

The man from the fantasy worlds didn’t appear.

Maybe…
He only belonged to those worlds.

And now she was back in reality, while he couldn’t cross over.

“Liar,” she muttered.
“You said you’d follow me anywhere… you said you’d always find me…”

She returned to school and started her senior-year internship, running around for real-world survival.

“Hey, Boss Ming, are you still hiring?” a guy asked with a grin.
“Can you take my roommate, too? He needs an internship stamp.”

“If you want in, it’s 500. If you want a partnership, it’s 1,000. Pay first, stamp second.”

“What’s the difference?”

“The difference between 500 and 1,000.”

“…Okay.”

He tried again.
“What if I pull in a sponsor? Can we waive the fee?”

Mingming looked at him.
“If you’re that capable, why can’t you get your own stamp?”

He grimaced.
“They said they’ll stamp it… if I can connect them to you. But that depends on you, right?”

She stared.
“You’re not trying to set me up with someone, are you? Someone, drag this traitor out!”

“Wait, wait, mercy! He’s waiting at the school gate. Just take a look! Please, Boss Ming! Your Majesty! Queen—”

She ignored him.

An hour later… she still got curious.

She walked toward the school gate.

Maybe no one was there.
Maybe he already left.

She stepped outside.

A man in a trench coat stood there with his hands in his pockets.

He looked young.
His brows were shadowed.
His whole body radiated a cold, untouchable presence.

When he saw her, light suddenly appeared in his eyes.
The shadow between his brows vanished.

He walked toward her calmly.

Each step felt like it landed directly on her heartbeat.

Her heart started racing.

It was clearly their first meeting.

But his eyes carried the warmth of a long-awaited reunion.

He lifted the corner of his lips, voice cool and magnetic, and held out his hand.

“Miss Mingming, hello. Nice to meet you.”
