Chapter 101 — The Young Master’s Fake Little Sister

When Xiao Yumu arrived, the parents of the other boys were already there. The principal’s office was in chaos. The discipline director was trying to soothe the other parents while also defending the school’s golden boy. After a few minutes, some parents started accusing him of favoritism, and soon the blame shifted toward Mingming instead.

The principal stood beside poor, isolated Mingming, silently praying for President Xiao to show up. He couldn’t afford to offend any of these parents—better to let them argue it out once everyone had arrived.

“Let’s calm down and talk this through once all the parents are here—”

“What’s left to wait for? It’s obvious this little girl egged those boys into fighting over her!”

Several other parents chimed in.

Xiao Yumu felt a strange sense of déjà vu. It seemed like he’d lived through this exact scene once before—back when Mingming was in kindergarten, six years ago.

Right or wrong aside, just one glance at Mingming curled up in the corner, looking terrified, made his jaw clench.

Were these parents blind?

His kid was clearly a timid little marshmallow—she instigated a fight? With that quail-like posture?

Did they really think she had no one backing her?

Xiao Yumu stepped into the principal’s office and said coolly:

“What do you mean, Xiao Xinxi ‘egged them on’?”

The room fell silent for a moment at the sharpness in his voice.

Everyone turned toward him.

Xiao Yumu noticed Mingming’s eyes brighten the moment she saw him. Some of her anxious expression melted away, just a little.

“President Xiao, it’s obvious—”

“Obvious what?” he cut in. “They don’t have minds of their own?”

“Does Xiao Xinxi have any special relationship with them outside of class?”

“If not, how would she know what they were scheming in private?”

“I heard she was dragged there—they called her over. She didn’t go on her own, nor did she gather them herself. So where exactly did this claim that my kid instigated a fight come from?”

He delivered each sentence with absolute force, giving no room for rebuttal.

Mingming couldn’t help imagining what he must be like at the negotiating table.

He must look amazing.

But hearing how firmly he took her side also made her feel slightly guilty.

After all, she knew what she’d done.

I really am a terrible, manipulative woman…

The parents were left speechless, but Xiao Yumu wasn’t finished. He pressed further:

“If anything, I’m annoyed these reckless boys might’ve accidentally hurt her while fighting.”

“You—!”

The principal jumped in. “That’s not the case. Xiao Xinxi was standing quite far away.”

Mingming: “…”

Then Xiao Yumu swept his gaze over Mingming’s little ‘rumored harem,’ let out a soft snort, and said with a smile that wasn’t a smile, “You call yourselves young men? This is your sense of responsibility? You start a fight, and then you try to blame it all on a girl.”

Her “rumored harem” scrambled to declare:

“It wasn’t Xiao Xinxi! I’m the one pursuing her!”
“I’m the one who challenged the others!”
“It’s my fault! Don’t blame her—she—she—she—”

These inexperienced little brats were completely outmatched by this sly old tiger. Their parents looked as if they wanted to slap their sons just to shut them up.

But the deflection worked—the conversation shifted back to the boys themselves. Xiao Xinxi was cleared of responsibility.

Mingming’s eyes filled with grateful tears.

Dad! You’re my real dad!

She didn’t even dare imagine how impressive he must look during real business negotiations.

“With everything said, I don’t see any reason for me or my kid to remain here,” Xiao Yumu said flatly. Without looking at anyone, he beckoned to Mingming. “Let’s go. We’re going home.”

Mingming followed behind him meekly as they left the battlefield.

“Brother…” Mingming drawled softly, trying to evoke his sympathy.

“Don’t call me that. Aren’t you an orphan?” he shot back.

Mingming silently cursed the teacher for tattling about everything.

“…Uncle, but we’re bound by blood, aren’t we?” she said in a pitiful tone.

The word uncle hit him like lightning. He froze, turned slowly, and stared at her with a frown deep enough to crush a fly.

After a long moment, he ground out, “Xiao Xinxi, do you have a death wish?”

Mingming shrank her neck and peeked at him timidly. Her voice rose like a tiny mosquito’s: “Brother… do you not love me anymore?”

Xiao Yumu: “…”

When he didn’t respond, Mingming crossed her hands over her chest dramatically, looking heartbreakingly wounded. “My heart hurts…”

Xiao Yumu: “…”

She watched his expression, then ventured, “Love youuu~”

Xiao Yumu: “…”

One hand on his hip, the other jabbing a finger at her forehead, he opened his mouth several times before finally failing to hold back and poking her forehead. Through gritted teeth, he said, “I really did bring home a little ancestor.”

“…Brother! Brother, I love you! I love you sooo much—”

“Quiet.”

As graduation approached, Xiao Yumu simply put Mingming on extended leave and arranged private tutors at home. She wasn’t allowed to go back to school.

Behind his back, Mingming complained to the system, “I’m barely a teenager and I’ve already experienced the coldness of the world. I’m barely a teenager and I’m already living a prison-play lifestyle…”
