A few weeks later, two separate groups arrived at Osiris Academy, one after the other. Ming An had no choice but to leave Feng Guang for the time being to deal with them. Although he didn’t say it outright, Feng Guang knew they were from the Elders’ Council and the Hunters’ Association.
Holding the little black cat in her arms, she stood by the floor-to-ceiling window and watched from afar as one group in black cloaks and another in white uniforms passed through the grounds. It was still daytime, the sky gray and overcast. The human students of Division B were attending class as usual, and yet the people from both organizations had suddenly appeared.
She could feel that a storm was coming.
Wen Xian, standing behind her, said calmly, “Don’t worry. The principal can handle it.”
Before leaving, Ming An had called Wen Xian over to protect Feng Guang. After all, aside from the suppression effect her bloodline had on certain vampires, she had not yet awakened her abilities. If she encountered hunters, the odds would not be in her favor.
Still holding the cat, Feng Guang turned around. “Aren’t you curious at all about why I’m living here?”
Wen Xian smiled kindly, without a trace of malice. “Perhaps you don’t know, but Principal Ming is my teacher.”
“You mean… Ming An was your teacher when you became a vampire hunter?”
“That’s right.”
Feng Guang looked at him sympathetically. “It must’ve been tough, becoming the disciple of someone so unreliable.”
“You misunderstand,” Wen Xian replied gently. “My teacher is actually very capable. And he’s a good person. When Chu Xiao and I were born, our parents were killed by vampires. He took us in and raised us.”
“It’s hard to imagine… that he would be so kind.”
“Perhaps I should address you as ‘Teacher’s wife,’ then.”
“No—please don’t!” Feng Guang shuddered. “We’re together, yes, but we’re not married. We’re just dating. Don’t call me that—it’s creepy.”
Wen Xian chuckled but said nothing more.
Feng Guang asked, “Do you know why the Elders’ Council and the Hunters’ Association came together?”
“I’ve heard that Yan Bai’s blood test results are in.”
“And?”
“It’s been confirmed that Zeng Xue carries the vampire factor of the previous head of the Yan family.”
“Then this time they’re here to…”
“To take Zeng Xue away,” Wen Xian said.
“Take her away? Will she be able to come back?”
“I don’t know.”
“There’s no need to worry.” In a swirl of black bats, a girl in a white school uniform suddenly appeared in the living room. She smiled enchantingly. “No one is taking me anywhere.”
Wen Xian immediately stepped in front of Feng Guang, alert.
“Zeng Xue…” Feng Guang began, then quickly shook her head. “You’re not Zeng Xue.”
“Sharp eyes, little girl.” The girl’s red lips curved upward. “Let me guess—which noble family are you from? Hmm… Back then, I slaughtered most of the purebloods. The ones still doing well are the Xia family, the Wang family, the Situ family…”
She listed several names before clapping her hands with a laugh. “You’re from the Xia family, aren’t you? I heard from that little Situ You that your surname is Xia.”
You already know her surname is Xia—what’s there to guess?
Feng Guang quickly recalled the story Ming An had once told her. Her expression turned cold. “You’re Yan Luo.”
“How rude, calling me by name like that,” the woman said lightly. “After all, my disappointing grandson is your classmate. You should at least call me ‘Grandmother,’ shouldn’t you?”
