Someone didn’t know who spoke first, but that person pleaded,
“Sir… we only want to take a little bit of blood. We won’t kill her.”
“We wouldn’t dare compete with you for food…”
They spoke over one another, a few words at a time. In their eyes, Fengguang was someone who wanted to keep the meal all to herself, while they were merely begging for a small share.
Only take a little blood?
Fengguang knew very well that if Zeng Xue were handed over to them, the moment they tasted blood they would completely lose their sanity. There was no way Zeng Xue would come out alive.
Zeng Xue, hiding behind Fengguang, spoke up in confusion,
“Wait… why do you want to drink my blood?”
At the sound of her voice, the vampires’ eyes glowed an even deeper red, like fresh blood.
Sensing danger, Fengguang coldly warned them again,
“The school rules clearly state that humans may not be attacked on campus. Anyone who violates this will be handed over to the Hunters’ Association. Have you all forgotten?”
The Hunters’ Association was a name with real deterrent power. Some of the A-rank vampires exchanged uneasy looks and began to waver. Still, they knew that the lower-rank vampires would never give up such tempting prey so easily. Once chaos broke out, they could simply move in and take advantage of it.
Another gust of wind swept through, carrying the bloody scent even farther. Fengguang heard the sound of several vampires swallowing hard.
Sure enough, someone suddenly leapt into the air. His fangs extended as he lunged straight at Zeng Xue. Just as his hand was about to touch her, a dragon-shaped flame appeared out of nowhere. He couldn’t dodge in time and was struck head-on by the fire. With a scream, he fell from midair and slammed into the ground, his body instantly engulfed in flames.
No one rushed to help him. Fortunately, the fire wasn’t meant to kill him. After rolling on the ground a few times, the flames went out. Like an injured animal cub, he dragged his wounded body away and disappeared into the forest.
Situ You stood with one hand in his pocket, while crimson flames burned in the palm of the other. He strolled lazily to Fengguang’s side, glanced disdainfully at the group of vampires, and said slowly,
“A bunch of nobodies. Food that I haven’t even tasted yet—what right do you have to try it before me?”
The vampires retreated another step, fear written all over their faces.
Fengguang finally let out a breath of relief. She thought to herself that since the male lead had stepped in, the female lead would definitely be safe. She had known that Situ You had arrived long ago, but because he hadn’t shown himself until now, she had been anxious, worried that some butterfly effect she caused had made him abandon the whole “hero saves the damsel” routine.
At that moment, Zeng Xue covered her mouth and exclaimed in shock,
“You… you’re vampires…”
“What a slow woman,” Situ You said dismissively as the flame in his palm went out and he slipped his hand back into his pocket. “Something this obvious, and you only realize it now.”
Zeng Xue clutched Fengguang’s hand tightly.
“Fengguang… they’re vampires…”
Situ You let out a cold laugh.
“Stupid to the extreme. Can’t you tell that Xia Fengguang is the same as us?”
“Fengguang…?” Zeng Xue asked in disbelief. “You’re… you’re also…?”
Fengguang sighed and nodded.
“Yes.”
Zeng Xue unconsciously loosened her grip and took a step back.
