Just then, another vampire suddenly rushed out. Of course, he was quickly knocked down by a dragon of fire as well.
Situ You withdrew his hand and frowned deeply.
Fengguang frowned too. “Something’s not right.”
“Even with the two of us here, they still dare to charge out…” Situ You pondered for a moment. “A B-rank vampire shouldn’t be acting like a C-rank one.”
Seeing more and more red points appearing in the darkness around them, Fengguang realized how serious the situation was.
“Situ You, there are seven hundred and eighty-one vampires here. Can you deal with all of them?”
Situ You paused, then said irritably, “Xia Fengguang, what do you mean by that? You want me to handle everything myself? What are you doing—standing in the back, cheering me on?”
“I’d like to help,” Fengguang said, looking at him with complete sincerity, before saying something he couldn’t believe. “But I haven’t awakened any abilities. I can’t help you.”
“You’re messing with me, right?” Just as expected, Situ You didn’t believe her at all. “You’re pure-blooded. Your potential is way stronger than that bunch of nobodies, okay? And you’re telling me you haven’t awakened your power? Xia Fengguang, are you really hiding your strength to this extent?”
Fengguang shrugged. “I’ve never hunted before. Where do you think my ability would come from?”
“…Xia Fengguang, this isn’t the time for jokes.” With so many blood-crazed vampires around, no matter how strong Situ You was, there was no way he could wipe out several hundred of them by himself.
Fengguang blinked and said nothing.
The seriousness in her eyes told him clearly that she wasn’t joking.
Situ You pressed a hand to his forehead, suddenly feeling the urge to deal with her first.
But the vampires who had already lost their sanity weren’t going to wait for them to finish talking. No longer attacking one by one, they began to swarm forward in groups.
Situ You might be arrogant by nature, but his aristocratic upbringing had given him proper manners. He placed himself in front of Fengguang and Zeng Xue. The flames in his hand condensed into a blazing, fire-lit long blade. The first vampire to charge was struck by it. Still, Situ You knew his limits—these vampires were all young masters and young ladies from major families, so each of his strikes only injured them enough to rob them of mobility, never taking their lives.
Even so, no matter how overpowered the male lead was, dragging along two completely defenseless burdens meant he couldn’t cover everything.
After knocking down a vampire who had tried to sneak up on Zeng Xue from behind, another vampire went for Fengguang. No matter how fast Situ You’s reactions were, he couldn’t cross the distance in an instant.
“Xia Fengguang!” Situ You shouted with a frown.
Fengguang’s agility was decent. She didn’t have the ability to fight head-on, but she could dodge. She avoided the first attack, but couldn’t escape the second. Just as a female vampire who could control her long hair was about to entangle her, a tall, powerful wolf suddenly burst out and slammed the attacking vampire to the ground with its sharp claws.
Seeing this, Situ You voiced his surprise. “A werewolf?”
Holy hell—it was a werewolf.
Fengguang’s first instinct was to run as far away as possible. She barely took two steps before another man-tall werewolf charged out and blocked her path. Her body tilted, and she fell onto the wolf’s back. With a sharp howl, the wolf carried her off at incredible speed, vanishing into the forest. The other wolf, still fighting vampires, didn’t linger either and soon retreated, disappearing as well.
“Meow~”
The small black cat licked its paw and followed in the direction the werewolves had gone, quickly vanishing from sight.
