Fengguang woke up the next afternoon.
She opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling, her mind still foggy. She tried to recall what had happened the day before. She remembered the principal taking her out to eat, and then… then it seemed she had gotten drunk.
With a headache, she ran a hand through her hair and got out of bed. One look at her disheveled reflection in the mirror startled her into rushing to wash up. She definitely did not want to turn into a second Ming An.
She had just finished tidying herself up when her phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number. After hesitating for a moment, she answered, and Wen Xian’s voice came through the line.
“Student Xia, are you up yet?”
His very first question caught her off guard. She paused before replying, “I’m up… what’s going on?”
“Could you come outside the girls’ dormitory for a moment? I have something for you.”
“Okay… I’ll be right down.”
Fengguang hurried downstairs and saw Wen Xian standing under the shade of a tree. She walked over quickly and asked curiously, “You said you had something to give me…”
“This.” Wen Xian handed her the food container he was holding, then smiled slightly. “From now on, I’ll bring your meals over. You shouldn’t leave the A Division area during the day—it’s against school rules, and it puts me in a difficult position.”
Holding the surprisingly heavy lunchbox, Fengguang suddenly felt embarrassed. She said awkwardly, “I’m sorry for causing you trouble…”
“Helping students of Osiris is my responsibility,” Wen Xian replied with a small nod. “I have class now, so I’ll be going.”
“Okay… goodbye.”
Wen Xian left her with a faint smile and a tall, slender silhouette, disappearing quickly down the tree-lined path.
Fengguang looked down at the lunchbox in her hands, feeling a little conflicted. Wen Xian had suddenly started bringing her food without any warning. Was it because she was just that charming and he’d developed a sudden fondness for her? Or was he simply a genuinely kind person?
Then another thought struck her—how did he even have her phone number?
After thinking it over, she figured it out quickly. Wen Xian was the student council president, after all. He naturally had access to all student records, so it wasn’t strange that he knew her number.
Still, she couldn’t help feeling that something about it all was a bit odd.
As night fell, students from Division B began returning to their dorms, while students from Division A started leaving theirs.
Even though Fengguang felt that nighttime was meant for sleeping, she had no choice but to follow the crowd out toward the teaching building. In the dormitory lobby, it was no surprise that she ran into Situ You.
Situ You’s sharp, hawk-like eyes fixed on the girl coming down the stairs. The students who had been surrounding him immediately fell silent, and the lobby grew tense.
Fengguang kept her eyes forward, clearly intending to ignore him.
But Situ You wasn’t about to let her pass so easily. He shifted a step to the side, blocking her path, and said in an infuriatingly smug tone, “What’s this? Miss Xia, who skipped class on her very first day after transferring, are you actually planning to attend class today?”
“Is that any of your business?” Fengguang shot back coldly, her attitude clearly saying she had no patience for his nonsense.
Unfortunately, Situ You had never learned the meaning of the word “discretion.” He drawled lazily, “Xia Fengguang, I’m just giving you a bit of advice. At Osiris, standing out too much isn’t a good thing.”
