Zeng Xue was still staring at the boy in the tree, completely confused.
“What’s going on with him…?”
“Don’t talk.” Fengguang could already feel it—quite a few vampires were hiding nearby. They were only holding back because of her status; none of them dared to rush out. She frowned and asked Zeng Xue, “Do you know where your dorm is?”
Zeng Xue had looked at the map before. She nodded. “I do!”
“Listen carefully. Go straight back to your dorm right now. Don’t worry about anything else, and don’t look back. Do you understand?”
“Why—” Fengguang shot her a sharp look, and Zeng Xue immediately realized this wasn’t the time to ask questions. She picked up her suitcase. “Then I’ll go first…”
“Did I say you could leave?”
From the darkness, an elegant, aristocratic-looking young man slowly stepped forward. His black school uniform fit his figure perfectly. A wicked smile played on his face as he advanced toward them step by step.
A man who could ignore the pressure of Fengguang’s bloodline—she didn’t need to guess who he was. Although the Situ family and the Xia family had been betrothed, she had never actually met Situ You. The difference was that she knew the plot, knew the male lead, and therefore knew exactly who he was.
Because of Situ You’s appearance, Zeng Xue stopped in her tracks. She couldn’t help thinking that this boy was really handsome.
Situ You merely swept Zeng Xue with a glance before fixing your gaze on Fengguang.
“You’re a pureblood. Which family are you from?”
His attitude was utterly arrogant.
Fengguang didn’t back down. She folded her arms and said calmly, “My surname is Xia. You tell me—which family do you think?”
“Xia Fengguang?” Situ You’s expression turned as unpleasant as if he’d swallowed a fly.
“That’s me, Situ You. This is our first meeting. You don’t seem very happy about it?”
Situ You let out a cold laugh. Because of Xia Fengguang’s appearance, he had completely ignored Zeng Xue, who normally would have been powerfully tempting to him.
“Is seeing you supposed to be something to celebrate? The Xia family’s little princess suddenly shows up at Osiris—what, couldn’t wait to find me and fulfill the promise our elders made?”
“Aren’t you overthinking it? If my dad hadn’t forced me to come here, I wouldn’t have come to this godforsaken place at all.” She silently added that she was here for Wen Xian as well.
“That’d better be the case,” Situ You said coolly. “I don’t have time to cater to some spoiled young lady.” With his hands in his pockets, he said arrogantly, “Xia Fengguang, hand over the girl behind you.”
Zeng Xue snapped out of her starstruck daze and instinctively shrank further behind Fengguang.
Fengguang glanced at Situ You. “And why should I listen to you?”
“Osiris is my territory. If you want to live peacefully here in the future, don’t offend me.”
“Situ You, you’re overestimating yourself. We’re of equal status. What makes you think I’d be afraid of you?”
She wasn’t wrong. Even if Situ You wanted to make things difficult for her, within Osiris, only he would dare to do so. No one else had the authority. In other words, no matter how many guards stood behind Situ You, none of them would deliberately trip up Xia Fengguang.
Situ You said coldly, “Xia Fengguang, do you want that girl all to yourself?”
The corner of Fengguang’s mouth twitched. “Do you think I’m like you? A barbarian who can’t control his primal urges.”
As long as one was a vampire, the scent of blood would provoke some kind of reaction—the intensity depending on the vampire’s rank. A C-rank vampire would lose control at the smell of blood. B-rank vampires could still maintain some rationality, while A-rank vampires were completely unaffected.
