Wang Ci had no objections. She was probably too busy managing company affairs every day to worry about these minor details. Otherwise, why would she have left the moving task to Xia Chao? Although the company was a bit far from the suburbs, the quiet environment was perfect for working from home.
On a sunny day, they moved into their new home. The moving company caused quite a commotion with all their comings and goings.
Feng Guang didn’t need to help, so she took the opportunity to admire the surrounding scenery. The area was spacious and lush, a refreshing sight that was pleasant to the soul. It was a nice suburban area but also famously affluent, with white villas rising everywhere. It seemed many people were increasingly enjoying life.
As she gazed at the beautiful scenery, Feng Guang stretched lazily and noticed a swing under a banyan tree. It was covered in dust and fallen leaves, clearly unused for a long time. Suddenly feeling a sense of something, she looked up towards the window of a nearby villa.
The floor-to-ceiling window only had blue curtains fluttering slightly; nothing else was visible. She lingered for a while until Wang Ci called her. Feng Guang ran back without acknowledging Wang Ci and rummaged through a pile of things to find the prepared welcome gift for the neighbors. She took out a box, waved, and said, “I’m going to greet the neighbors now,” before running off.
Feng Guang arrived at the neighbor’s house and rang the doorbell on the iron gate. After a moment, a young but distinctly magnetic voice responded, “May I ask who it is?”
“I’m the new neighbor who moved in today, just next door. I came to say hello.”
There was a brief pause before the response came, “Please come in.”
The iron gate slowly opened, and Feng Guang walked in with the box in hand, leisurely making her way through the flower-filled courtyard. The climbing red roses on the wall were breathtaking. She reached the door and knocked on the wooden door.
Before long, the door opened, revealing a young man in a wheelchair. He had a high, prominent nose and pale, thin lips. His skin was an unhealthy white, but no one could say he was unattractive. On the contrary, his pale complexion and slender body gave him a fragile appearance, yet his perfect features made him look incredibly appealing.
Feng Guang was so mesmerized by his beauty that she didn’t mind his wheelchair. Despite her inner excitement, she maintained her composure, knowing she was usually the one being admired.
Not forgetting her purpose, she smiled and handed over the gift. “Hello, I’m Xia Feng Guang. From now on, we’ll be neighbors. This is a small token of my appreciation; please don’t take offense.”
“Thank you.” He accepted the gift with a gentle smile that seemed to bring springtime warmth. “I’m An Tong. Welcome to the neighborhood.”
“An Tong… Your name is so lovely.” She smiled brightly, her eyes sparkling. “I saw that you have many flowers in your garden. Did you plant them all yourself?”
“Just some gardening during my spare time, nothing special.”
“No, no, no, the flowers you’ve planted are beautiful. My father also likes gardening but has limited space and is still a novice. If he has trouble, may I come to you for advice?”
His smile was fresh and gentle, untouched by worldly concerns. “Of course, you can.”
Feng Guang felt completely healed.
