TSFLIP Chapter 755

“Oh.” Feng Guang answered flatly, showing no emotion, then continued upstairs and went into her room.

She flopped onto her bed, her mind replaying what the system had just told her: This time, the target of the strategy can be chosen by the host based on her own feelings.

In other words, whether it was Han Chen or Han Qi, she could pick whichever one she preferred to complete the mission. This world had already diverged drastically from the original storyline—after all, the original text had no such inhumane concept as clones.

That was why the system had loosened its requirements for her.

But Feng Guang felt no relief. She knew very well that her heart leaned toward Han Qi. She had spent more time with him, and there was an inexplicable pull about him that drew her in.

She didn’t want Han Qi to die…

Pulling the blanket over her head as if she could shut out the world, she tried to ease the ache in her chest.

Mu Jin’s birthday banquet arrived right on schedule. This was where the Jin family’s influence truly showed. Even though Mu Jin never really fit in with the rich second-generation crowd at Li Hai High School, the Jin family’s connections made plenty of people eager to show up.

Gu Lan, however, clearly wasn’t one of those people. The Gu family wasn’t merchants; they didn’t need to network for business. People would more readily believe he showed up just to cause trouble, to watch Mu Jin—the bookworm—make a fool of herself.

And that was exactly what he intended. Mu Jin had been just an ordinary girl before being taken back into the Jin family. This was her first time attending a high-society banquet. Surely she’d make some mistakes, and then he’d have something to laugh at.

But he miscalculated.

Mu Jin appeared before everyone in a simple white dress. Cute yet graceful, it flattered her curves and made her pale skin glow under the warm lights. She looked like a pure angel—untouched, untainted by the world.

Gu Lan had never seen Mu Jin like this. His heart skipped a beat, pounding in his chest as he froze in place.

When Mu Jin spotted him, she smiled and walked right over. It was her birthday, after all, and even seeing the annoying Gu Lan couldn’t sour her mood.

“I thought you wouldn’t show up.”

Gu Lan answered with his usual careless swagger. “Well, I didn’t have anything better to do. Came by to kill some time.”

“Then I hope this banquet doesn’t bore you even more, Young Master Gu.”

“Heh, of course not.” He clicked his tongue and smirked. “Who would’ve thought? Turns out when the bookworm puts on a dress, her figure isn’t half bad.”

Mu Jin forced a polite smile. “Thank you so much for the compliment, old man.”

The vein at Gu Lan’s temple twitched.

From her seat in the corner, Feng Guang sipped a glass of orange juice and watched their exchange. She pursed her lips, unimpressed.

A girl approached her, speaking kindly. “Miss Xia, isn’t Gu Lan your fiancé? Shouldn’t you go over and talk to him?”

Clearly, the girl had noticed something unusual between Gu Lan and Mu Jin, and was offering a well-meaning reminder.

“No need.” Feng Guang’s voice was cool as her gaze swept over the girl. “Gu Lan is only my fiancé. I don’t see why I should bother managing him. Besides, don’t you think the two of them actually make a good match?”

Mu Jin and Gu Lan—a good match?

Was that really something a fiancée would say?

Realizing she had picked the wrong person to approach, the girl flushed with embarrassment, muttered, “Sorry to bother you,” and quickly backed off.
