TSFLIP Chapter 746

“Since you don’t like it, Feng Guang, I won’t say it anymore,” Han Chen said softly, lowering his gaze to her. Sunlight from the window cast a golden halo around him, his expression calm and serene, the corners of his mouth lifting in a gentle smile.

To her surprise, Feng Guang heard a hint of indulgence in his words. Her own heartbeat thudded in her ears, and she instinctively took a step back. Nervously, she said, “What do you mean, ‘for me you won’t say things like that anymore’? You shouldn’t be saying them in the first place. They’ll only worry the people who care about you. So it’s not for me—it’s for the people around you.”

“So… does that mean you’re one of those people who worry about me, Feng Guang?”

She froze, then quickly denied it. “I—I don’t worry about you!”

The corners of his eyes lifted slightly. He was smiling, yet somehow it carried a trace of loneliness. “I thought… you and I were friends. And that’s why you cared.”

“I… I…” She stared at him, speechless, guilt gnawing at her chest. Because of her, this gentle but sickly man looked so sad. Clenching her teeth, she grabbed his hand and said earnestly, “Of course we’re friends!”

“Really?” He lifted his eyes just a little, quiet doubt flickering in their depths.

“Of course! Out of all the people in the world, it just so happened you ran into me that day. That’s fate. If even that doesn’t make us friends, then what would?”

At last, sunlight seemed to return to his eyes. “Hearing you say that makes me very happy.”

Feng Guang forced out a dry laugh, having nothing else to say. After a long silence, she suddenly realized how tightly she was holding his hand. Embarrassed, she quickly let go, trying to act casual as she asked, “What about your parents?”

“They’re very busy, with so many responsibilities.” Han Chen’s gaze lowered. “My father is a biotechnologist, and my mother manages a company overseas. Growing up, the only times I saw them together were when I was hospitalized.”

Feng Guang’s chest tightened. Her own parents’ relationship wasn’t great, but on holidays and birthdays, they always managed to be there for her. She struggled, not knowing how to comfort him. Family issues weren’t something an outsider could truly understand—whatever she said might feel hollow.

“Well…” she faltered, “if you ever get bored, I can come visit whenever I have time.”

His smile was like a spring breeze under a bright moon. “Thank you, Feng Guang. But don’t feel sad for me. I’m used to living in the hospital. Even if my body stays here, through books my heart can travel anywhere. So I’ve never felt lonely.”

He said it so lightly, as if his world stretched wide and boundless.

But Feng Guang only felt more ache in her chest. Suddenl,y she brightened. “You love books, right? I have a huge library at home—it was a birthday gift from my mom. Once you get better, come visit me. I’m sure you’ll find something there you’ll love!”

“I’ll look forward to it,” he said gently, though deep inside he knew he might never walk out of the hospital.
