She gave a soft laugh as she said the word heartless.
“Not that I know if he’s heartless. I don’t even know if he ever liked me.”
“Anyone who comes here is either a reaper or… dead,” he said. The implication being: she didn’t need to wait anymore.
The girl smiled brightly, like a flower in bloom.
“I know. I never really planned to wait for him. What would be the point? I don’t want to get hurt all over again.”
He said once more, “You should go reincarnate.”
“Yeah, yeah, I get it. You don’t need to keep nagging.”
She took the cup of Forgetting Water. As she lifted it to her lips, she smiled and asked,
“Do you like anyone?”
“No.”
“Once I drink this, everything will be forgotten—past lives, past loves, even that man. You’re so good-looking… In the next life, I’ll just marry you instead.”
