“This isn’t narcissism—it’s called confidence,” Yun Ji said with a bright smile. “Come on, call me senpai, and I’ll take you to Zhao Yi.”

Feng Guang’s first instinct was to say, Yeah, right, but thinking about Tang Xiaole’s situation, she hesitated and asked skeptically, “You know where he lives?”

“Of course. Zhao Yi stopped living in the dorms during his sophomore year. He rented a place off-campus with Tang Xiaole. As it happens, I know exactly where it is.”

“How do you know that?”

“Easy. Tang Xiaole was the president of the drama club, and everyone in the club had been to her place for meetups.” Yun Ji raised an eyebrow. “Well? Still thinking about it, or are you ready to sincerely call me senpai?”

Her expression was complicated. After a long pause, she muttered, “Senpai.”

“Too soft. I didn’t hear you.”

She gritted her teeth and gave in. “Senpai!”

“Good girl,” Yun Ji said, grinning like spring sunshine. “Senpai will now take you to Zhao Yi.” He was so pleased he looked like someone who had just won the lottery.

That smug look… Feng Guang swore she’d remember it.

It took them a little over ten minutes to walk to an apartment building just outside campus. Standing below a twelfth-floor window, Yun Ji looked up and said casually, “I think… I’d better go up with you.”

“Why?” Feng Guang looked up at him.

Yun Ji leaned in slightly, their faces just a breath apart, a smirk playing on his lips. “Because with your skill level, going to deal with a female ghost alone… is way too dangerous.”

Feng Guang pressed her lips together and said nothing in return. She knew what he meant—there was something unclean in that apartment.

He gently patted her on the head. “Don’t be nervous. You’ve got me, remember?”

The overwhelming masculine presence made her blush. She stiffened, stepped back, and said awkwardly, “Then let’s go.”

She turned and walked into the building, her retreating figure practically screaming in embarrassment.

Yun Ji smiled and followed at a leisurely pace.

Once they exited the elevator, Feng Guang stood in front of an apartment door, looking unsure. She glanced over at Yun Ji beside her.

He smiled, reached out, and rang the doorbell. Before long, the door opened to reveal Zhao Yi, who didn’t look well.

Feng Guang was still trying to figure out how to start the conversation when Yun Ji stepped in with a solemn expression. “Zhao Yi,” he said gently, “I wasn’t around campus recently. I only just heard about what happened to the president, and I wanted to come check on you. I’m sorry I came so late—hope you don’t mind.”

“No… It’s already really kind of you to come, senpai,” Zhao Yi said, stunned for a moment before stepping aside. “Please, both of you, come in.”

Inside, Yun Ji gestured toward Feng Guang. “This is Xia Feng Guang, a freshman at our university. I’m sure you’ve heard of her?”

“I have. She’s kind of a campus celebrity.” Zhao Yi extended a hand with a polite smile. “Nice to meet you, I’m Zhao Yi.”

“Nice to meet you,” Feng Guang replied, shaking his hand.

“Feng Guang also came because she heard what happened to the president,” Yun Ji added. “You probably remember that during the freshman orientation ceremony, the president gave a welcome speech to the new students.”

“Yeah… that was only about two months ago,” Zhao Yi said, his gaze darkening with sorrow as he recalled Tang Xiaole standing proudly at the podium.

Yun Ji sighed. “Her passing hit all of us hard. Zhao Yi, I hope you can stay strong.”

“I understand…” Zhao Yi forced a smile. “Look at me—I forgot to even offer you drinks. Please, have a seat on the sofa. I’ll go get some water.”

With that, he headed into the kitchen.
