“This must be fate,” Yun Ji said with a warm smile, then offered something to Fengguang. “This one’s caramel flavored—want some?”
“Sure.” Operating under the principle of “never say no to free food,” Fengguang reached out and grabbed a handful. She glanced at the ongoing “battle” happening nearby, then nudged the person next to her with her elbow and whispered, “Is it kind of shady for us to just be standing here watching?”
Mimicking her tone, he whispered back, “This is a public space. That means anyone can be here. What’s shady about that?”
“Hmm… you’re not wrong.” Fengguang nodded in agreement, her conscience now clear as she continued watching what was an impromptu live-action adult scene. But then she frowned slightly. “Watching something this… intense doesn’t make you feel any type of way?”
“Yeah, it does.”
She nodded knowingly. “Well, of course. You’re a guy. You’d naturally feel a little… something.”
“The guy’s body’s not as good as mine,” Yun Ji said with a grin. “The girl’s figure’s decent, though—not as nice as yours, of course.”
Fengguang: “…”
“I forgot to mention, Junior Fengguang—I’m a fine arts major. When I look at people, the first thing I do is study their anatomy,” Yun Ji added with an utterly sincere tone. “Please don’t think I’m being inappropriate.”
“No… that didn’t even cross my mind,” Fengguang replied flatly, refusing to look at him. She was convinced this man never played by the rules. That sudden rush of excitement she’d felt earlier because of him? Yeah, clearly a false alarm.
“Hmm… there’s not even any movement anymore. This scene’s a total letdown. Junior, I’m heading out. Want to come?”
“Yeah, let’s go.” Fengguang had already lost interest in watching. She reminded herself that she was here for a ghost named Tang Xiaole. Plus, her slight nearsightedness was making her eyes sore from all the squinting. Might as well go handle the real business.
But just as she stood up, her body swayed sideways. Thankfully, Yun Ji caught her before she fell. He noticed the pained expression on her face and asked, “Are you okay?”
“Squatted too long. My legs are numb…” Anyone who’s experienced that pins-and-needles sensation knows—it’s worse than getting bitten by ants.
“Who’s there?!”
A sudden shout. Fengguang looked up and saw that the man and woman had finished pulling their pants back on and were now walking toward them.
Fengguang winked at Yun Ji. “What do we do?”
Sure, it was a public space, but still—getting caught spying on someone’s private business was bound to be awkward.
Yun Ji said, “Looks like there’s only one option.”
“What is it?”
“Get on.”
He turned his back to her—it was clear he was offering to carry her.
Fengguang felt a bit weird about it, but she didn’t hesitate. She climbed onto his back.
And then, a gust of wind brushed past her ears.
He had taken off.
Yun Ji’s feet barely skimmed across the treetops as he leapt from branch to branch, quickly leaving the scene behind. When they reached the end of a tree-lined path, he finally landed gently on the ground.
But he didn’t immediately put her down. Instead, he said with a grin, “Forty-five kilograms.”
“Huh?” She was still in a daze, not quite recovered from the fact that he had flown while carrying her. Then, suddenly, her face turned bright red. “Yun Ji! Don’t you know you’re never supposed to say a girl’s weight out loud?!”
She practically yelled in his ear. Yun Ji instinctively hunched his shoulders and gave her a wide-eyed, innocent look. “I was saying you’re light! Why are you freaking out?”
