All because of one so-called line—“I want to leave more of my scent on you.”—Feng Guang was thoroughly ravaged by Xu Wang, again and again…
By the time she managed to hobble out of the room, holding her sore lower back and finally catching a glimpse of the gray sky, three full days had passed.
Having a man with that much stamina… hurt, but in a strangely satisfying way.
Would saying that out loud get her hated?
As she passed by, patrolling soldiers bowed their heads in greeting. “Good afternoon, Madam.”
“Afternoon…” she replied with an awkward chuckle, waving a hand. Ever since Xu Wang marked her that day, there hadn’t been any need for him—or her—to say much. The moment the soldiers caught even a hint of his scent on her, they bowed and greeted her with the utmost respect.
She couldn’t help but think—being marked was the most effective way to claim someone.
Today, Xu Wang had official business to attend to and couldn’t accompany her. That was the only reason she’d been able to leave the room—more importantly, it was her chance to head to the West Tower.
She wasn’t particularly interested in freeing Ye Mo from prison, but if she wanted a future with Xu Wang, she had to follow the system’s orders and locate him. Naturally, the system had assured her that if Ye Mo were released, Xu Wang would be completely fine. That was the reassurance she needed to make up her mind.
Even if she saw Ye Mo, she wouldn’t be able to take him out directly. But according to the system, what was restricting him was the collar around his neck. If she could remove it, he’d be free.
The West Tower was about a ten-minute walk from the courtyard. Along the way, she pretended to stroll casually and admire the scenery whenever she passed any patrolling soldiers. But once she reached the tower, she couldn’t go any farther—there were guards stationed there. Even though they could sense the prison warden’s scent on her, they still wouldn’t let her pass.
But she wasn’t the kind of person to give up easily.
Feng Guang hid in the bushes and studied the terrain. She decided to circle the back of the West Tower. It would take longer, but she had to try. However, as she wandered deeper into the path and eventually found herself standing in a forest, it hit her—she was terrible with directions.
After a long moment of silence, she gave up. Forget about Ye Mo for today. She turned around, retracing her steps. But halfway back, she heard something rustling in the bushes.
Just as she was wondering if it might be a stray cat or dog, someone suddenly burst out.
“Feng Guang!” Nan Xiaoxiao threw herself at her in a hug the moment she saw her. “Thank God, you’re alive!”
“…What are you doing here?” Feng Guang was a little dazed by Nan Xiaoxiao’s sudden appearance.
“I crawled in through a tunnel. Oh, and Yan Yu is here too!” Nan Xiaoxiao grabbed her arm and dragged her toward the bushes, where Yan Yu lay on the ground, unconscious and pale, his brows tightly furrowed.
Feng Guang asked dryly, “What happened to him?”
“He got hurt fighting the Zerg… to save me,” Nan Xiaoxiao said anxiously. “Feng Guang, do you live in this castle? Can you please ask the owner for some medical supplies?”
Before Feng Guang could say anything, the man on the ground slowly regained consciousness.
Yan Yu opened his eyes weakly. When he saw Feng Guang standing there, his eyes widened—not because she was alive, but because he could smell the scent of a mark on her.
“Yan Yu, you’re awake!” Nan Xiaoxiao quickly crouched down to help him sit up.
But Yan Yu ignored her. The moment he sensed the marking pheromone on Feng Guang, he looked around nervously. “Where… where are we?”
“This is a castle,” Feng Guang answered kindly. “Also a prison.” Then, remembering this was supposed to be a happily-ever-after story, she added, “I’ll ask Xu Wang to take you both in.”
“Xu Wang?” Nan Xiaoxiao asked, confused.
“He’s the warden here.”
“Xia Fengguang, have you lost your mind?” Yan Yu’s face turned grim. “Everyone who used to be in this interstellar prison—whether wardens or inmates—committed suicide ten years ago.”
Except for… that one person who survived.
