“Wasn’t your only goal to escape this place? If that’s the case… then isn’t there no need for you to do anything else?”

Cecil gently ran his hand along her face, his voice calm and almost amused.

“I’ve already captured her. Knowing how he is, that warden of yours would never let me off anyway. So what’s the point of letting her go now?”

Xiao Xiao’s expression turned cold. “You broke the rules.”

“Rules?” Cecil finally stood up and stepped off Feng Guang, using his height to look down at the boy. “You broke the rules the second you brought her back here. I was supposed to be resting in my cell, and you were supposed to be in your room. And yet… we both ended up here, with this charming little lady. So tell me—was it just me who broke the rules?”

“…I won’t deny what you said,” Xiao Xiao said evenly. “But she’s not someone you’re allowed to touch.”

“Oh? And why not? Just because of Xu Wang?” Cecil smirked. “Xiao Xiao, don’t forget—she hasn’t been marked. That means anyone has the right to claim her. Whether it’s me… or even you.”
