“If escaping this prison were easy, I wouldn’t have to treat a charming lady like this,” Cecil said, tugging slightly on the rope binding Feng Guang’s wrists. He looked as though he was acting out of helplessness, though honestly, if he were just a bit more convincing, people might actually believe he didn’t have a choice.

Feng Guang let out a cold, mocking laugh, making her sarcasm crystal clear.

Cecil acted as if he didn’t notice and kept right on with his half-hearted performance. “This ‘prison’ isn’t just the castle. It’s the entire planet. Even if I break out of my cell, I still can’t leave the planet. Doesn’t do me much good, does it?”

“Then, since you’re already out of your cell, why haven’t you left the planet yet?” she asked.

“To leave the planet, I need a spaceship first.”

Feng Guang finally understood. “So you’re planning to trade me and Xu Wang for a way out of here?”

“Smart girl.” Cecil sounded sincere in his praise. “A man like Xu Wang—you could capture all the soldiers you want, even threaten him with their lives, and he still wouldn’t let me go. But… if I’ve got a charming young lady like you in my hands, that’s a different story.”

Feng Guang was quiet for a moment. “What makes you so confident about that?”

“First, you’re a female Omega. The Alliance laws state that all empires are obligated to protect Omegas. Second, you’re someone close to Xu Wang.” Cecil stroked his chin thoughtfully. “From what I know, that upright warden doesn’t allow Omegas around him—male or female. If he’s made an exception for you, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re important, but you have a special significance to him. That much is certain.”

Well, yeah, he wants to complete a permanent bond with me. That’s some kind of special meaning.

Feng Guang rolled her eyes hard, though only in her head. She figured that if Cecil was dead set on using her as a bargaining chip, there was no point in wasting her breath trying to talk him out of it. Better to save her energy and start figuring out how to escape.

Meanwhile, Xu Wang was still out there fighting Ye Mo. She suddenly remembered the intel she’d read—Ye Mo had once destroyed an entire planet. As confident as Xu Wang seemed, standing there calm and composed even if the sky fell, Ye Mo had the classic “second male lead” halo. She couldn’t help worrying that Xu Wang might lose… or worse.

Seeing her previously calm expression twist into worry, Cecil raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. “What’s this? You worried about Xu Wang?”

She snapped back irritably, “Can’t I be?”

“You like him?”

“Yes, I do! Got a problem with that?”

Now, Cecil genuinely looked confused. “That man only has one facial expression—smiling gently. That’s it. What’s there to like? You’re a female Omega! There are tons of Alphas in the Alliance waiting for someone like you. Why would you go for him?”

His last sentence practically screamed: What kind of idiot woman are you?!

“What’s wrong with liking a gentle man?!” Feng Guang shot back, glaring at him. “Xu Wang is handsome, kind, thoughtful—he let me stay here, gave me food and clothes. Where am I supposed to find another man like that?!”

“Are you a cavewoman?” Cecil looked utterly baffled, his stunning blue eyes wide with disbelief. “How could you be into such a weak-looking guy? Back when I was still—uh—doing business across the galaxy, I’ve gone up against more generals and marshals than I can count. Every one of them was strong, muscular, and oozing masculinity. How could you of all people fall for someone like Xu Wang?!”
