Inside the room, the lighting seemed even dimmer. The man leaned lazily back in his chair, hands folded over his abdomen. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

A faint smile lifted the corners of his thin lips. “Her pheromones… do smell good.”

It seemed the suppression bracelet she was wearing wasn’t working on her at all.

Meanwhile, in the hallway outside, Fengguang followed Number One as they climbed more stairs—this time up three more floors—before he finally opened a door.

“Miss Xia, this room has been prepared for you.”

Fengguang glanced inside. Aside from being nearly pitch-black, it wasn’t bad. She sincerely thanked him, “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to call me.”

“Okay, I will.”

“Then…” Number One gave another gentlemanly bow. “Please rest well, Miss Xia. I’ll take my leave now.”

Fengguang nodded and said goodbye as Number One turned and left.

She stepped into the room and shut the door behind her. She wasn’t sure if the dim lighting was meant to match the whole prison aesthetic, but everything inside was cloaked in shadow. And on this planet, sunlight rarely broke through the thick cloud cover, so whether it was day or night, the place remained steeped in a gloomy, eerie darkness.
