Fengguang didn’t understand what the boy meant by his words.
About an hour later, the spaceship landed on a planet. Just before they exited, the boy handed her a bracelet. “To avoid any unnecessary trouble, wear this.”
Fengguang recognized it immediately—it was a pheromone suppression bracelet. She put it on at once, feeling like her chastity was now well-protected.
She followed the boy off the ship, and when she saw the building in front of them, she finally understood why he’d said all she had to do was not be afraid.
A massive European-style castle rose up before them. Maybe it was considered “retro” by the standards of this world, but on this overgrown planet, it stood as the only structure—its eerie presence even more pronounced in the night.
What stunned Fengguang, though, were the large characters on the iron gate: Interstellar Alliance Prison.
The boy had been looking forward to seeing her scared and trembling. What he didn’t expect was for her to suddenly jump up and shout, her hands over her mouth, “This is amazing! I finally made it to this godforsaken place!”
…If it’s a godforsaken place, why does she sound so excited?
It was rare for him to feel genuinely confused.
Fengguang was still bouncing with excitement. But when she turned back again, the boy had vanished. She looked around—aside from the wind rustling through the wild grass, there was no sign of him anywhere.
“Miss Xia, I’ll be escorting you from here,” said a man who looked like a butler.
Fengguang still couldn’t see him as just a robot. “Number One, where’s your master?”
He was called Number One—the boy had told her that.
“The master has some matters to attend to. I will guide you in his place.”
“…Alright,” Fengguang could only nod and follow behind Number One.
They passed through the iron gate, walked through the overgrown courtyard, and entered the castle. Only then did Fengguang realize the inside was much, much larger than it looked from the outside. The spiral staircase leading upward made her dizzy just looking at it.
As she panted, following Number One up the stairs, she asked, “Where are we going?”
“To meet the warden.” Unlike Fengguang, Number One wasn’t out of breath at all. Robots without biological functions never get tired.
Fengguang, already mentally drained, thought to herself that since she was on someone else’s turf, it made sense to greet the person in charge. While it was just the two of them, she probed a little, “Do you know a prisoner named Ye Mo? I heard he’s locked up here too.”
“That is an SSS-level threat. He’s imprisoned in the deepest part of the castle. I would not advise a biological being like you to go near him.”
“I… I wasn’t planning to! Just curious, that’s all.” She quickly changed the subject. “Why haven’t I seen anyone else in this castle?”
“It’s currently human rest hours.”
“Oh…” She just thought the castle was way too quiet. So quiet, it was almost creepy.
Number One stopped in front of a door. “Miss Xia, we’ve arrived.”
“So… the warden’s in there?”
“Yes.” Number One gave a very human-like smile, then knocked on the door. “Warden, sir, a guest has arrived at the castle.”
A moment later, the door opened. Number One stepped aside, looked at Fengguang, placed a hand over his chest, and gave a slight bow. “Miss Xia, please enter.”
Just me? Going in alone?
Well… Number One’s not even a real person anyway.
Fengguang took a deep breath and stepped into the dimly lit room.
Inside, a man was seated behind a desk. His appearance was flawless. His deep, dark eyes seemed to pull you in the longer you looked at them. His nose was straight with a graceful curve, and his pale lips curled in a slight, gentle smile, as if he always wore that expression.
Most importantly, the black uniform with silver trim gave him an air of restraint and discipline, adding to his already refined presence.
And Fengguang? She had exactly zero resistance to men with that kind of cold, ascetic aura.
She heard him speak in a calm, elegant voice: “Welcome to my domain, beautiful lady.”
