A few days later, Xia Chao asked Feng Guang how she felt about Fu Yao. At the time, Feng Guang was lounging on the sofa, eating cake and watching TV. She didn’t even glance away from the screen.

“Because I didn’t do what he said and take good care of Fu Yao.”

“He wouldn’t get mad over that,” Ji Mian said gently. “Fu Yao’s an outsider. You’re his daughter. That’s different, isn’t it?”

“Hmm…” She thought his reasoning made a lot of sense and nodded. “You’re right. I’m his daughter. There’s no way he’d be mad at me over that arrogant boy.”

She’d picked up the phrase “arrogant boy” from her mom.

“Brother, are you leaving already?” She put down her beloved cake and looked over sadly as he bought his train ticket on his phone.

Ji Mian looked up. “Yeah, I have to head back to school.”

“Can’t you stay a few more days?”

He explained gently, “There’s still a lot I need to take care of at school.”

Fortunately, Ji You was still napping in her room—otherwise, she’d probably be throwing a fit by now.
