Feng Guang had thought it through clearly. Once those doctors were released, there was no way they would let Qi Wei off the hook. It was true that she hated being imprisoned, but that hatred had never reached the point of becoming real hate.
She did not hate Qi Wei, because even Qi Wei himself did not understand what hatred was. Rather than calling him obsessive, it was more accurate to say he was like a child—if there was something he wanted, he would do whatever it took to get it, without any reason or logic behind it.
She found it tragic. Qi Wei would never possess the emotions of a normal person.
Feng Guang went to find Liu Xun. At least in her eyes, this man was still trustworthy. Of course, she also made him a promise: once she returned home, any important business deals from the Xia family could be given priority to the Liu family.
Liu Xun was not merely some lovestruck fool. In fact, he understood very clearly what obtaining Feng Guang’s promise meant. The Xia family’s indulgence toward their precious daughter was no secret, and he had every reason to believe Feng Guang had the ability to persuade Xia Chao. At the very least, establishing a partnership with the Xia family would significantly elevate the Liu family’s standing in the business world.
Avoiding the notice of others, Liu Xun carried Qi Wei to the doll room. He glanced at the sleeping Qi Wei before looking at Feng Guang.
“Is this enough?”
“This is enough.” Her expression remained calm, impossible to read.
She had not drugged him too heavily, and Zheng Gao’s plan would only begin at night. After sleeping through the day, he would wake up by evening. Once he saw that the patients had already been subdued by the doctors, he would not recklessly confront Zheng Gao and the others alone.
At the very least, she still trusted him to have good judgment. Qi Wei was intelligent—he would definitely know how to hide himself properly. He would also understand that going out at that point would only mean certain death.
The floors above the fourth level were treated like forbidden territory. The patients would not come there, so she could safely leave him here.
Liu Xun and Feng Guang walked out of the room. He glanced back at the closed door.
“You still have time to regret this.”
She asked calmly, “If I wake him up now, are you saying it wouldn’t matter even if none of us could escape this island?”
“Well…” Liu Xun sighed. “We’ve already been trapped here long enough. I still want to get out.”
He was still waiting to hold a wedding with Yang Hui.
“Then isn’t that enough?” Feng Guang walked toward the staircase, but suddenly stopped. “Mr. Liu, don’t tell anyone about this.”
“I understand.” Liu Xun nodded. A businessman’s most important quality was trustworthiness. Since he had agreed to help her, he would keep his mouth shut. Even with Yang Hui, he would not say a single word.
Feng Guang returned to the dormitory. Alone, she sat on the sofa and quietly waited for night to arrive. With no one else in the room, the emptiness suddenly felt unbearably cold.
Whenever she used to sit there like this, he would always come over and pull her into his arms, then tell her about everything that had happened during the day—the patients he had seen, the things he had encountered. Even though she never responded, he could still talk for a very long time.
As though all her strength had drained away, Feng Guang curled up on the sofa, resting a hand over her forehead as she let out a deep sigh in her heart.
It had only been a little over a month, and yet she had already grown accustomed to his presence.
That was not a good sign.
