When the door opened again, Qi Wei saw Feng Guang sitting on the bed, drowsy and on the verge of falling asleep. He walked over and gathered her into his arms like a baby. “The food’s ready. Do you still want to eat?”

“Yeah…” She forced herself awake a little because she had never been the type to fight against her own stomach.

Qi Wei easily picked her up from the bed and carried her out to the dining table. Sitting on his lap, she stared blankly when he held a spoon out toward her.

He smiled. “Open your mouth.”

After only a brief silence, Feng Guang obediently opened her mouth. Once she swallowed the food, he immediately brought another spoonful to her lips. Finally, she could not help but say, “I can feed myself.”

“You have to carefully take care of a young cub.” With his other hand, he used a handkerchief to wipe the grease from the corner of her lips. Smiling faintly, he added, “Right now, Feng Guang is just like a cub.”

He was not talking about her age, but about how fragile she seemed at the moment. At the very least, he wanted to raise her to be stronger, so her stamina in bed would improve.

Feng Guang said nothing and quietly accepted his “thoughtful” care. More than once, she found herself thinking that this man had clearly watched way too many animal documentaries.

“Feng Guang…” Carrying her back to the bedroom, a trace of guilt entered his voice. “I know making a woman take birth control is a terrible thing for a man to do. Don’t worry. From now on, I’ll take the medication instead. I won’t make you take it again.”

Feng Guang remained silent, pretending to be asleep.

He laid her gently on the bed, turned off the lights, and soon climbed in beside her. With practiced ease, he pulled her into his arms. One of his hands slipped between her legs. Beneath the oversized shirt she wore—his shirt—she had nothing else on.

Almost instantly, her body stiffened.

Qi Wei withdrew his hand and sighed softly while holding her. “I just wanted to check your injury… If you don’t like it, then I won’t touch you.”

Only then did her body slowly relax.

The next day was sunny.

The white ceiling, the breeze drifting through the window, and the faint smell of disinfectant all left Feng Guang momentarily dazed. But she quickly realized she was in Qi Wei’s office, leaning against him in his arms. After only a moment of confusion, she lifted her sleeve and noticed that the marks on her body had already begun to fade.

“Are you hungry?” Qi Wei’s desk was covered with food, completely different from before, when it had held nothing but documents.

Without any appetite, she shook her head. She also had no interest in asking whether he had carried her all the way from the dormitory to his office in full view of everyone that morning.

She was only a doll to him, no different from the other items in his collection. Dolls did not need emotions. She had no particular strengths—except perhaps for her ability to accept reality.
