“Is this the room the director assigned to you?”

She straightened up. “I’m not afraid.”

“Good.” Qi Wei smiled. “I was just making rounds. I’ll be on my way.”

The lights in the hallway suddenly began to flicker. The green emergency lights cast an eerie glow in the dim corridor, making it hard not to think of all the horror movies she’d seen over the years.

More importantly—it was already dark.
