[QTC] MBDT Chapter 5

This family is so poor that even the mice are disgusted.

Bei Yutang looked at the tattered and dark quilt under her body, which still exuded a musty smell. Even the smell of this body was not very pleasant.

She rubbed the center of her brows, and out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of a figure huddled at the door.

“Who?”

No one responded.

“Who is there?” Bei Yutang’s voice raised a little.

The small figure slowly moved out from behind the door and Bei Yutang looked in surprise at the skinny and ragged little guy in front of her. He is small in stature and looks like he is still three or four years old.

The little guy seemed to be very afraid of her, his calf was trembling, and his soft and waxy voice sounded.

“Mother.”

Bei Yutang blinked, looking at the unkempt face and skinny child who looked like a beggar, this should be the original owner’s son. This family is really not ordinary poor, so poor that even their son is raised like a beggar.

Seeing the little guy’s thin and frail body, Bei Yutang felt a surge of pity in his heart.

“Come here.” She softened her voice.

The little guy shuddered. He had been beaten by the original owner for a long time, so he did not dare to disobey her orders and moved forward tremblingly. He knew that his mother was very angry now and she would hit him again because she was talking about it in the past.

He was afraid, but he dared not disobey his mother’s words. If he is disobedient, his mother will beat him harder.

Bei Yutang reached out her hand to push back the hair that was blocking his eyes, but suddenly, her hand was empty. There was a ‘bang’ sound and the little guy was kneeling on the ground.

“Mother, Gouzi¹Gouzi: dog is wrong.” With his head down, his thin body was trembling. (T/N: Huhu… How could you call your own son dog? Poor baby…)

Her outstretched hand just froze in the air. Looking at the frightened little guy on the ground, she was stunned.

What’s happening here?!

Seeing him kneeling beside the bed, his small body shivered. Even if she did not know what was going on, it could be seen that the little guy was very afraid of the original owner.

Bei Yutang tried her best to speak softly, “Get up quickly, the ground is cold.”

The little guy raised his head timidly, with a pair of big dark eyes showing on his dirty little face, looking at her timidly. The little guy’s eyes are beautiful, bright and shiny, making people like them just by looking at them.

He looked at the smile on his mother’s face and was taken aback. He hadn’t seen his mother smile at him for a long, long time.

He blinked as if confirming that the scene in front of him was not his dream.

Bei Yutang saw longing in his eyes. She stretched out her hand to touch his little face, his whole body was stiff, and did not dare to move.

He felt the warmth on his face, which felt very real and incredible. He could not help feeling a little nostalgic for his mother’s touch, which made him feel warm and comfortable.

“Gouzi, Gouzi.” Bei Yutang called out the vulgar name with some awkwardness.

Without the memory of the original owner, she doesn’t know how the two lived together, let alone where she is now. To plan for the present, she must first figure out her current situation.

Suddenly, Bei Yutang felt a stabbing pain in her head, as if something had penetrated into it. The little guy saw his mother’s expression of pain, her whole face was wrinkled together, and she held her head with both hands.

The little guy was frightened. After a few seconds, he turned around and ran out of the house in a hurry. Soon he walked into the house with a medicine bowl in his hand. He did not dare to lean too far, for fear that his mother would get angry and smash the medicine bowl.

He begged Aunt Wang next door for this bowl of medicine for a long, long time, while kneeling on his knees, in exchange for it.
