[QTC] MBDT Chapter 1828

“What happened? How did they suddenly disappear?” Dr. Zhang said in disbelief.

The four of them had rushed out without any equipment, so they had no way to check.

“Could they have fallen into the sea?”

No one knew what had happened; the most likely explanation was that they had accidentally fallen into the sea.

“Here.” Feng Qing said.

The group immediately walked toward him and saw a skid mark in front of him.

The group frowned as they looked at the mark.

“Judging from this mark, it should be the footprint of the person from before, but he seems to have slipped.”

“It seems he didn’t suddenly disappear, but rather accidentally slipped, causing him and Li Mengmeng to fall into the sea together.” Yan Jin’s voice was slightly somber.

Bei Yutang stared at the slippery mark, then tried to examine the surrounding soil, but found no other footprints.

On the cliff edge, besides their own footprints, there was only that slippery mark.

“It’ll be dawn in two hours. We’ll come back and check again then.” Yan Jin said.

It was still dark, and below was a sheer cliff. Going down recklessly would not only yield nothing, but would also put them in danger.

“Let’s go.”

Bei Yutang looked down at the cliff, when suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a mark on the edge of the cliff, covered in white powder. She pretended to examine the cliff, but her hand secretly picked up the powder.

After she touched it, the rain quickly washed away the mark.

If she had been any later, she probably wouldn’t have found anything.

Bei Yutang casually followed the four of them out. After they returned to the castle, they each went to their rooms to shower and change.

Bei Yutang was examining the powdery substance in her hand when there was a sudden knock on the door.

Bei Yutang immediately put the substance away.

“Who is it?”

“It’s me.”

Dr. Zhang’s voice came from outside.

Bei Yutang opened the door.

“Are you ready? If not, I’ll wait for you outside.”

“No need, I’m done.”

“Take a blanket downstairs. If you’re sleepy, you can rest on the sofa.” Dr. Zhang suggested.

“Okay.”

Bei Yutang went inside, took a spare blanket from the cupboard, and followed Dr. Zhang downstairs.

When they arrived downstairs, Yan Jin and Feng Qing were already waiting in the hall.

Now that Li Mengmeng was missing, of the eight people who entered the island, only four of them remained.

With everyone present, Dr. Zhang said, “From now on, the four of us must stay together. We absolutely cannot act alone. Judging from the figures we saw earlier, there are others on this island besides us.”

“For safety reasons, the four of us must stay together for the next few days. We mustn’t give them any opportunity to take advantage.”

Yan Jin nodded in agreement: “Dr. Zhang is right. It seems our previous guess was wrong. Perhaps Ke Hongyu and the others’ deaths are related to those hiding in the shadows.”

Bei Yutang remained silent, head bowed in thought.

“Yutang, Yutang.”

Dr. Zhang called several times, but Bei Yutang didn’t hear him until Feng Qing patted her shoulder, bringing her back to her senses.

“What’s wrong?” Bei Yutang looked at Feng Qing in confusion.

Dr. Zhang said, “I just called you. What were you thinking about? You seemed so lost in thought.”

Bei Yutang shook her head: “Nothing.”
