This could bring up the murderer’s motive.
However, if they had all offended the murderer, they must have had some connection with him before. But looking at everyone, no one is someone everyone knows.
Or perhaps, they all share some common ground. Once that common ground is found, the truth will quickly surface.
The white paper was already filled with writing, and at the point of connection between them, two words were written—’intersection’.
After closing the notebook, Bei Yutang looked up at the window. She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but the sky seemed much darker than before. Even the dark clouds that had been hovering over the island seemed very low.
The entire island seemed to be weighed down by dark clouds. Suddenly, lightning flashed through the clouds, a silvery streak across the sky.
Bei Yutang felt that the weather didn’t resemble an approaching typhoon; it felt more like a simple storm.
The wind howled outside the window.
Bei Yutang opened her door, walked to Feng Qing’s door, and was about to knock when she lowered her hand.
Bei Yutang went downstairs to the front hall, glanced at the clock on the wall, and realized that it was almost time to prepare dinner.
Bei Yutang took the ingredients from the refrigerator, washed and chopped them, and prepared to cook.
Bei Yutang had just heated the oil and was about to add the ginger and garlic when she heard a hissing sound overhead. Then the light went out, and the kitchen was plunged into darkness.
Bei Yutang groped for the stove to turn off and squinted as she walked outside.
The sky outside was dark, and the limited light entering the castle made it as gloomy as night.
She stepped out of the dining room, squinting at the hall, her gaze sweeping over the vast castle. Looking at the castle in the darkness, something felt off.
Strange, very strange.
There were very few windows in the castle; besides the two essential ones, there were no others. Considering the hall could hold a thousand people, the fact that it only had two windows was truly bizarre.
Bei Yutang regained her composure, took out her phone, turned on the flashlight, and began searching for candles.
Ten minutes later, Bei Yutang lit a candle, its light dispelling the chill of the night.
She wondered how Dr. Zhang and the others were doing it now.
Bei Yutang checked the time; three and a half hours had passed since the afternoon. In another half hour, they should be back.
Bei Yutang turned and went into the kitchen to start cooking.
Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her.
Bei Yutang turned around and saw a figure standing in the darkness.
“Who’s there?”
The figure walked toward her, and at the same time, a raspy voice echoed in the quiet dining room.
“It’s me.” Feng Qing emerged from the darkness and stepped into the candlelight.
Bei Yutang’s tense expression relaxed when she saw him.
“Why is the power out?”
“I don’t know, probably a tripped circuit breaker.”
“I’ll go check it out.”
“Okay, be careful.”
Feng Qing turned and left.
Fifteen minutes later, the lights came back on. A moment later, she heard someone enter the house. When Bei Yutang came out carrying a plate, she saw that Feng Qing was soaking wet.
“Go upstairs and change your clothes. We can eat when they get back.”
Feng Qing agreed and went upstairs.
Bei Yutang placed all the food on the table and went to the living room to wait for their return.
When Feng Qing came downstairs, he had already changed his clothes.
The two of them waited in the living room for a full half hour, but there was still no sign of their return.
