Bei Yutang walked to the French windows, opened them, and a cool sea breeze blew in, carrying a faint scent of the sea.
After Bei Yutang came downstairs, Bei’s parents also came out of the house.
The family of three went straight to the hotel restaurant, planning to eat at a street food stall the next day.
For three days in a row, Bei Yutang took Bei’s parents to many scenic spots and tried various water activities, including diving, which she did alone.
When Bei Yutang returned from diving, Bei’s mother immediately offered her some juice.
“Have some water.”
Bei Yutang took the juice from Bei’s mother, sat down beside her, took a sip, and comfortably lay back on the tatami mat.
“Tangtang, your phone keeps ringing. Check if it’s something urgent.” Bei’s mother reminded her.
“Hmm.”
Bei Yutang picked up her phone from the table. There were over a dozen missed calls, all from unfamiliar numbers she’d never seen before. She dialed back, but the phone rang for a long time without being answered.
On her second call, the phone was answered.
A childish voice came from the other end, tentatively calling out, “Hello?”
Bei Yutang raised an eyebrow at the unfamiliar voice.
“Was that you who called me just now?”
The boy on the other end said, “No. This is a public phone.”
A public phone?!
“Little friend, where are you?”
“A public phone booth on Huaihai Road.”
“Huaihai Road? Is it the Huaihai Road in Linhai City?” Bei Yutang asked immediately.
“Yes.”
“Okay, thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
After hanging up, Bei Yutang immediately dialed Lan Yan’s number. Of all the people in Linhai City, Lan Yan was the first one she thought of. When the original owner left Linhai City, she had completely cut off contact with everyone there, all to avoid Qian Minghao.
The only person in Linhai City who knew her new number was Lan Yan.
Lan Yan hadn’t used her own phone to call her, but instead used a public phone at a newsstand; something must have happened.
Bei’s father noticed Bei Yutang’s expression: “What’s wrong? Did something happen?”
Bei Yutang shook her head at him: “Nothing.”
Bei Yutang stood up, walked to the side, and dialed Master Xiao’s number. The call was answered after a long time.
“Master Xiao, I need your help again this time.”
“What is it?”
“I have a friend in Linhai City, and it seems something has happened to her. I need your help to find her.” Bei Yutang said in a low voice.
“Send me her photo and name.”
“Okay.”
Bei Yutang immediately took out another phone and sent Lan Yan’s photo and basic information.
Master Xiao saw it and said, “I will arrange for my subordinates to look for her.”
“Thank you for your help.”
After hanging up, Bei Yutang prayed that nothing bad had happened to Lan Yan. Later that evening, Bei Yutang received a call from Master Xiao.
“Any news about her?” Bei Yutang’s voice was slightly urgent.
Master Xiao’s voice remained cold: “We found her, but her condition isn’t good. When my men found her, she was being kidnapped and put on a ship bound for prostitution overseas.”
With just that one sentence, Bei Yutang could easily imagine the situation and the predicament she was in.
“She’s with me. I’ll have someone take good care of her. You don’t need to worry too much.”
