“By the way, didn’t Manager Zhang win second prize during last year’s mid-year ceremony gala—a villa worth several millions? Maybe we should find out more about it.”

The next day, when Luo Xi entered the company, she overheard everyone discussing the lottery.

She sat down at her desk somewhat blankly. A group of girls was huddled around Zhao Ze, saying, “Zhao Ze, why don’t you ask? Isn’t Manager Zhang your relative?”

“Don’t even think about it. If my aunt finds out I asked about this, she would probably beat me to death.”

“Haha, it’s not that serious. You’re usually so diligent, and she praises you all the time in the group. How could she bear to be angry with you?”

“Exactly!”

Since work hadn’t officially started yet, everyone was laughing and chatting together.

“Hey, good morning,” Zhao Ze greeted with a smile when he saw Luo Xi arrive.

“Good morning.” Luo Xi nodded back.

Noticing his friendliness, Zhang Yan suddenly asked Luo Xi, “Hey, you must be Luo Xi, right? Since you came in through the backdoor, you must know what the prizes are this time. Why don’t you share with everyone?”

The crowd looked at Luo Xi with curiosity and envy.

Luo Xi shook her head. “Sorry, I don’t know.”

Zhang Yan scoffed, “Do you mean you really don’t know, or do you just not want to tell everyone?”

Zhao Ze frowned and looked at Zhang Yan. “Why are you always targeting Luo Xi? She’s only been here for two days, what could she possibly know?”

“Coming here at this time might be because she’s after the grand prize, Zhao Ze. You’re too naive,” Zhang Yan sneered.

Zhao Ze was speechless, and everyone began to look at Luo Xi with suspicion. They hadn’t thought much about it until Zhang Yan mentioned it, but now doubts began to arise.

Luo Xi shot her a cold glance. “So what if I am and what if I am not? Who are you to me that I should tell you?”

Zhang Yan was taken aback, then her face darkened. “I knew it. Did everyone hear that? She just admitted it.”

The surrounding people looked at Luo Xi with uncertainty.

“Luo Xi is just joking. How could she know so much after only being here for two days? Don’t think too much about it,” Zhao Ze said helplessly.

That’s right, if Luo Xi were really that capable, why would she be here as a mere intern in the finance department? She could have gone straight to being the president’s secretary!

“Zhang Yan, just because she’s sitting next to Zhao Ze doesn’t mean you should keep targeting her.”

“Exactly! If you like Zhao Ze, just go after him yourself! What’s the point of making things difficult for others?”

Several women who didn’t like Zhang Yan couldn’t help but speak up.

Zhang Yan shot a fierce glare at the two women. “You can’t expect anything good to come out of a dog’s mouth!”

The two women scoffed.

Everybody knew that Zhang Yan liked Zhao Ze. It was just that he hadn’t agreed to anything yet. Now that a pretty girl had arrived, sitting next to Zhao Ze, and he seemed very attentive to her, it was natural for Zhang Yan to make things difficult for her.

Everyone was well aware of this.

Once Zhang Yan walked away, Zhao Ze looked apologetically at Luo Xi. “I’m sorry, I didn’t expect she would act like that. We actually have nothing to do with each other.”

Luo Xi’s expression darkened slightly. “Your relationship with her is none of my business, but I hope you don’t talk to me anymore. I already have a boyfriend and don’t want to get involved in your pointless drama!”

Zhao Ze was taken aback, not expecting her to say this.
