By the time September rolled around, Mu Liuyin boarded the train with her suitcase in tow. Before leaving, she had informed a few of the Qi family elders that the curse on her had already been lifted, though she didn’t elaborate on how it happened, only offering a vague and mysterious explanation. She also told them not to spread the word just yet.
Once on the train, she found her seat and gently rested her head against the back of the chair.
Over the summer, most of her time had been spent cultivating. Her spiritual power had already surpassed what her original body had possessed before the curse. Though compared to Yin Che, she was still slightly lacking.
However, every morning when she woke up, Mu Liuyin would feel a strange, hard-to-describe sensation—like someone was watching her.
And indeed, someone was.
The girl in red, who had been silently observing her all summer long, had followed Mu Liuyin onto the train. She now floated silently onto Mu Liuyin’s lap, wrapping her slender white arms gently around the young woman’s waist from beneath her long red sleeves.
Her soul was transparent, weightless, and entirely devoid of any ghostly aura. With Mu Liuyin’s current cultivation level, there was no way she could detect anything unusual.
After over seven hours on the train, Mu Liuyin didn’t feel tired at all, thanks to her cultivation.
The girl in red gracefully drifted out of Mu Liuyin’s embrace as the train came to a stop and followed her off. She hovered beside her, her gaze lingering fondly on the young cultivator.
Since Mu Liuyin had arrived a day early, there were still two days before the new semester officially started. She had already rented an apartment near the school in advance.
Originally, the body’s previous owner had stayed in the school dormitory, but that dorm was for boys. And although Mu Liuyin now occupied a male body, her soul was still very much female. There was just no way she could live in a room full of guys.
Just the thought made her skin crawl.
The Qi family was wealthy, and the original host had his savings too. So the place she rented was not only in a good location, but also well-furnished and nicely decorated.
Once inside, the red-clad girl sat idly in a chair in Mu Liuyin’s bedroom, propping up her chin with one hand as she watched Mu Liuyin unpack. Among the belongings in the suitcase were items used for exorcism, spiritual protection, and self-defense—various magical tools.
Although she’d already seen them when Mu Liuyin was organizing things at home, the girl couldn’t help but curl her lips into a faint smile. She thought, This version of my cousin is even cuter than before.
She stared at Mu Liuyin without blinking. Even after watching her for so long, she never got tired of it.
How strange, she thought. When he was alive, I hated him so much that I wanted him dead. But now that he’s truly gone, it hurts so deeply, this pain in my bones, this obsession I can’t let go of—even in death.
Her beautiful eyes shimmered with emotion—until the next moment, when she saw the young cultivator begin to undress.
It was September, and still hot. After hours on the train, Mu Liuyin had long been looking forward to a shower. She took off her outer jacket and grabbed a bathrobe, heading into the bathroom. It was clear she planned to undress inside.
The red-clad girl blinked, hesitating for less than a second between staying and sneaking a peek.
Then she stood up and floated after her into the bathroom.
Whatever, she thought, he’s already mine anyway. A little look won’t hurt.
She stared intently at Mu Liuyin and thought to herself: Besides, we haven’t even settled the score about you liking someone else yet, cousin.
